Las Vegas Center Strip casino greed

I would not suggest driving to Reno.  Take a flight.  There is regular service between Las Vegas and Reno on domestic carriers that can be inexpensive.  Frontier flies up there for cheap.  I'd normally not suggest that airline, but for short hauls like the flight to Reno it works.  You should check into it!  :)

I agree. Either fly from Vegas for a couple days, or go sometime when you are willing to skip Vegas and just to Reno/Tahoe.

Yes fly.Las Vegas room comped? You could keep Las Vegas room.Fly out for overnight to Reno.Just to see if you like it.

Here's the thing: you can do the Vegas-Reno trip is six hours. It's 440 miles, and you can drive like a bat out of hell on Hwy 95. When you get there, you'll already have a car.

If you fly, while the flight itself only takes an hour, it's a miracle if you can get into or out of any airport in less than an hour. Then, you'd have to rent a car in Reno. I've done both the drive and the flight, and the drive is much, much less of a hassle. And of course, you can carry as much luggage as you want in your car--sure as hell not on the plane!

About 12 gallons of gas gets you there. Airfare+baggage fees = about six times that.

I think when Vegas is a pizza oven, basically from now until late November (used to be much shorter), that would be the best time to skip it. Trouble is, Reno is the number one city for temperature increases in the US over the last decade. Summers there used to be delightful; now, they're just...tolerable. Better than Vegas, though. The play is to go to Tahoe. Paradise in the summer. And if you have the gambling bug, there are a few casinos, or you could dive down the hill to Carson City (a couple of great casinos there).

I am rather interested on a road trip to Reno. But this is a plan for the future. Right now I'm very happy how they treat me at my favorite hotel and then I also have the E-I and Rainbow in Henderson. Both casinos are offering just exactly the games that I like to play. And on a good day...hopefully, I'll get this Reversible Royal at the Rainbow. It's just a matter of time until that one comes in.

Which hotel is your favorite in Vegas?

The drive is brutal.  It is literally nothing for 400+ miles.

Yeah - the airport is a hassle.

Pick your poison.

LiveFreeNW: I am not sure if I have to answer you that question. You should know already. There is probably just one casino/hotel that's still old school and that has it all. I wonder if you can figure it out without me being too specific :)))) I love it so much there that I don't even bother when I lose some. It's because they treat us right, the way it's supposed to be.  If you go there by night, it looks somewhat ....majestic. I'm sure you have an idea now....

Boris is probably referring to South Point.  Not too far from Rainbow and Emerald, either.
