Las Vegas Center Strip casino greed

what's your daily coin-in at the Southpoint? I mean, when you go there to visit? I can imagine that this could be an indicator? Another one could be how many points you have accumulated, I don't know. And if you frequent the restaurants and your time-on-device is significant, I would go and ask one of the hosts.  I have been visiting Southpoint for about 10 years now. 2x per year. And honestly, it's about the same time that I stopped gambling on the Strip.  Even Downtown has lost my interest because of certain reasons. I noticed that the 4 Queens and the Plaza have good games and this could be something. But then again...the noise on Fremont Str is driving me crazy. I deleted that zone from my map.

I've asked "my" host straight up, what amount of daily coin-in would it take to earn a room comp upon checkout? I told him, I would be playing VP, not slots, and generally 4-5 hours per day. He told me that it would be "about" 8K per day. I asked him to clarify, and he said that the daily requirement "might" be higher if it was a weekend. I said, well, then, can you tell me in advance how much that will be? That's when he started waffling and prevaricating. "Contact me when you check out." What if you're not on duty then? "Talk to the host on duty." Will they evaluate and reward my play in the same fashion? "That might not be up to me." And round and round and round.

So then I stayed there for five nights, Sun-Thurs. There were no special events, and the hotel was only about half full. I played $53,000 during that time, pretty evenly spread out, since my goal was to give them $10K daily action. So the morning I checked out, I called the host office and explained that my host wouldn't be there until Sunday, so he had told me to check with them re coming my room. The host said, "I'm sorry, we can't comp your room." I asked why not, and she said, "You didn't give us enough play."

WTF?? This was in direct contrast to what I had been told. When I mentioned that, she said the standard cop-out line, "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." My ass, I thought. Are you telling me you can't write a comp? Then what's your function?

You see, I hadn't lost anything. In fact, I was up $110 for the trip, thanks to a late-comibg royal. So I'm sure that she looked at my results and said, "No way he gets anything, he didn't lose."

The mailer I got next month was pitiful. 25% off up to three nights, Sun-Thurs. No resort fee waiver. Big fat hairy goddamn deal!

I sincerely hope that others aren't experiencing the same crap. You should be comped on your action, not your results. That's the way every other casino on the planet does it.

I agree that even with the recent slashing of players' club benefits, South Point is still pretty good. This "don't talk to us if you win" bullshit just rubs me the wrong way.

Kevin, I can't share a similar experience with you. I assume that you're a extremely good player and don't spend much money there. When I started frequenting S-P I wasn't aware of the fact that I could get free rooms. I was a bit naive and were playing there while I was staying elsewhere. I was so happy the day when I walked into the host's office and they checked on my history and told me that when I come next time they would take care of the booking. This was about 8 years ago, and since then I am a very loyal customer. I experience customer service that makes me feel welcome.  And I appreciate that a lot. I am not after the free room and just play the minimum amount necessary. Actually, I have no idea how much play is necessary, especially now after the points are harder to be earned. I just play a lot and this is obviously enough to cover for me room and some food. I don't eat much and I like the late night menu in the café. I switch from burger to the steak and back, and sometimes I even take the shrimp cocktail. So my overall food costs are not high and they usually take care of the charges. I take care of them, and I play a lot, and everybody's happy. I look forward to visiting soon again in the 2nd half of this year. I have no intention to visit any of the Boyd of Station properties, although I figure that my action would also be good enough for comped rooms. at GVR not so sure, but Palace or Boulder for sure.

Sorry Kevin had bad experience.Cant imagine not getting a VIP treatment. For me I am a low roller and don't expect much.Good shows, good food, some games of chance.Bargain hurt when I can.

They will not comp much if you win, plain and simple.  Doesn't matter how much you play.  What I get out of them is two weeknights free on mailers but that is ONLY because I go there quarterly.  So I very seldom will ask for anything else.  They seem to keep coming as long as I play there every quarter.

On a few occasions where I lost, they picked up my other two nights without me even asking.  But that maybe happens once every 2-3 years.

But definitely don't go in thinking if you play XXX, you will get rooms comped.  Simply does not exist there.  That said, I do agree they are still about as good as it gets for casinos with a hotel attached.

Quarter players are delusional if they think they deserve comped rooms, especially if they are winners.  Getting all swole up and indignant and giving a host a lot of attitude will never work. Face reality,  gamble for higher amounts if you desire/expect to get room comps. If you think that a host is going to put their job on the line to appease your unwarrented demands, then you are delusional. This is 2026 - not 1960. Things have changed and either accept what is or find something else to bitch about because your complaining will fall on deaf ears if you don't change your attitude and sense of reality.

Wow, this dude LOVES to call people who don't think the way he does "delusional." What matters is how MUCH you play, not the denomination! "Quarter players" can easily put in $5000 a day. That should be enough to earn some comps AND some future offers.

It isn't "unwarrented" (sic) for a host to give out room comps, and they won't be risking their job if they do. In fact, that IS their job. So if you find that your action isn't being properly rewarded, take your business elsewhere. It's that simple.

This poster is a really angry dude, so I'm sure everyone is taking his "advice" with a grain of salt. His attitude is, "shut up and take it," which, I must admit, is something the Vegas casinos have managed to convince almost every visitor to do. High prices? Lousy games? Poor customer service? Being nickel and dimed to death? STOP YOUR COMPLAINING, PEASANT! Be happy you're in wonderful Vegas and being allowed to breathe our perfumed casino air!

And when you're broke, get the **** out.

After COVID and the changes at the Boyd properties, my wife and I stayed at a comped room at Orleans and purposely played at South Point to hopefully get some offers from them. While at South Point, we found ourselves alone at a Blackjack table, chatting with the dealer about how it used to be at Gold Coast when we lived in Vegas in the '90's. She said South Point still works the same way as the Gold Coast did when the Gaughans owned it. She said if you want a comp, just ask the pit boss(floorman) or a host and see what they say.

With that in mind, and no offers from South Point, we booked a room for an upcoming trip, planning on playing and charging everything to our room, and then we were going to ask at the end for them to comp it. In the meantime, we both received room, dining, and free play offers in the Penn Play app for The M, so we switched our reservation to The M and, for the most part, have stayed there up to this point. Those Penn Play offers are starting to dry up a bit, and we will be seeking out new opportunities, as I mentioned in the Boyd thread.

Caesar's still offering comps. They also have package deal.Have to have diamond status to avoid nasty resort fee.Yet couple hundred for a week not awful.

Hello Max, I have a question: Do you have an estimate how much videopoker play is necessary until your play is getting interesting for the M Resort? For instance, would you think that 15'000 dollars coin-in per day is sufficient for a room  comp there?  Thanks for your expertise / best regards from Switzerland / Boris

Hello Boris, I don't know what if would take to get room comps at The M. Most of my comps come from my play at the Ameristar Black Hawk in Colorado. My wife and I used to play there weekly. My tier level is Preferred, which is the middle tier and qualified us for room comps at The M.
