Which One Would You Miss?

Which is the one local casino you would miss the most if it closed?  Why?

Southpoint - good gambling,. great food, love the entertainment, nice staff, nice pool and decent rooms

Emerald isle - good cheap vp and cheap eats

I'd hate to see Emerald Island/Rainbow go. Any of the Boyd or Stations casinos, they could be replaced by a radioactive crater and I wouldn't mind.

If I am allowed to give my opinion from the other side of the planet, I'll be happy to contribute.

I know, the concept of a locals' casino is to cater to locals. However, from all those countless visits I have found out the real value that gives me more fun. That's why I have shifted from the regular tourist casinos towards the locals places. My favorites are definetely the Rainbow, Emerald and the Southpoint.   

In fact I wouldn't like any of the locals places to disappear. Except the little joints that operate under Station's management. Those Wildfire casinos. They have no specific value to me and therefore I don't need them on my road map.

Southpoint proves that you can be BIG, AND GOOD.  Unless all these casino/resorts on the center Strip. They take out the tourists as if it's an endless herd of golden geese. It just doesn't work like that.

The Tuscany used to be a fantastic locals place. Over the recent years it turned more into a place that caters to tourists from what I see. There were so many changes to the worse that I think I could also live without the Tuscany. 

Station Casinos with its questionable management strategy to discriminate visitors in a way that they are not eligible for multipliers turned me off completely. I haven't set a foot inside any of those otherwise nice places since.  I am sure I'm not the only one, though.

It's a shame that so many of the locals' places don't have hotels for us out-of-towners.  Thinking Rainbow Club and Emerald Island, Klondike, Jerry's Nugget.  As for the OP's question, I'd miss South Point in spite of the recent downgrades.

Jstwea, I am with you on that one. But I think there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I give a lot of action at the Rainbow everytime I visit. And last time when I was there I noticed that very motivated and friendly bartender with the radio in his ear and I asked him if he is one of the managers. He confirmed and said that he's one of the owners. We had a very good conversation and honestly, when I play at the Rainbow, winning or losing is not an object. I just play quarters, so even on a bad day I don't fire up more than 500 or 600 bucks. But that's probably good for the Rainbow. They like people like me. I play quarter denom only at the Rainbow , but that way the mistakes I make when playing vp are not as severe and my money lasts a bit longer. 

I think the Rainbow/Emerald managment has understood how to run a sustainable business and doesn't want to kill the goose that's feeding them. You have to give something back in order to take, and that's what they do in perfection. I love it there, I really do.

Now that they have obviously purchased the majority of the PASS casino, then there is a chance that they also gain control over that new hotel. Next time when I will be in town (September) I will ask that guy if there is a chance to arrange some good hotel deals for us out-of-towners. And then I will find out if the hotel operations also has been bought, or if it's just about the casino. 

I am sure, once they control the hotel, then there is no reason why they should not give us good hotel rates (or even comps based on our play) to attract more touritsts from out-of-town.

Boris, I know you may have other reasons to visit Vegas, but for gambling purposes, do you find Vegas is still worth all the travel time?  How often do you visit?

I agree South Point Lot of gambling choices.Still has decent buffet.Fun reasonable shows.I know most don't like The Strip.Yet I get comped. I would 

miss Flamingo.

How could I forget Ellis Island.Good food.LVA coupons.They also give out discounts.

I would miss Tuscany.   Really like their food,  rooms and they have the games my wife and I like to play.  Good slot club as well.
