Today's Tuscany is a shell of what it was. They downgraded the VP, went to a "tier" system in the slot club and their offers are pathetic compared to what they used to be. I stayed there numerous time before they decided to copy the Strip mentality about gaming. I love the rooms, the cafe has good food.

I think the Rainbow/Emerald managment has understood how to run a sustainable business and doesn't want to kill the goose that's feeding them. You have to give something back in order to take, and that's what they do in perfection. I love it there, I really do.
Now that they have obviously purchased the majority of the PASS casino, then there is a chance that they also gain control over that new hotel. Next time when I will be in town (September) I will ask that guy if there is a chance to arrange some good hotel deals for us out-of-towners. And then I will find out if the hotel operations also has been bought, or if it's just about the casino.
I am sure, once they control the hotel, then there is no reason why they should not give us good hotel rates (or even comps based on our play) to attract more touritsts from out-of-town.

As Switzerland is only 6,000 or so miles from Vegas, aren't you on the same side of the planet?
It would be AWESOME if you could use your EI/Rainbow points or otherwise get comped to stay at the Pass hotel! I would probably just go there and spend my entire visit, rather than shuttling back and forth between there and the Four Queens. And if that was in conjunction with their existing great VP and they kept their multipliers--I could go back in time twenty years and do a Jean Scott!
The guy who owned the Rainbow was bought out at the beginning of last year but apparently still manages the place. I had a short conversation with him--really friendly guy--and discussed with him the recent LVA accolades. Might have been the same guy you talked to. At the time, I was terrified that the new ownership would destroy everything that was good about the place, as the bean counters usually do when they eat a casino. But they've kept the status quo, and the Rainbow, while a bit different, is still just as good. I hope hope hope they continue the way they are. They're obviously making money. Given that they're primarily slot joints, and always busy, I don't see how they couldn't.
I've also noticed that everyone seems to genuinely like working there. As a veteran of casino servitude, I would be the first to tell you that casino jobs can be like the seventh circle of hell, only hotter. They must treat their employees right.
AND...$5,49 breakfast!!!
