How harshly do you think history judges LBJ for the shaky rollout of Medicare?
The big glitches when Medicare Rolled out

In a nation of 350 million people there is no such thing as a smooth transtion to anything.

Obamacare has faults. So does Medicare. History will judge both programs by the sum of their faults/qualities...not by their initial rollout issues.

In 1967 long-run forecasts estimated that Medicare would cost about $12 billion by 1990.
In reality, it cost more than $98 billion that year.
DonDiego would hope History would recognize the false estimates by LBJ et. al., as well as President Obama'a lies. It's how Big Government grows.

But it's how Big Government grows. And it isn't over:

It cost over $½-trillion in 2012, . . . and will top $1-trillion in another 8 years.

And its up, up, and away from there.

DonDiego, what would those numbers be if Republicans hadn't passed a law prohibiting Medicare from negotiating lower drug prices? And that law was signed by a guy you voted for twice.

medicare and ss expenses will consume 100% of the anticipated tax revenue within 20 years, leaving no revenue for anything else

You forgot the link.
Hmm, it seems some things may not be as they appear, not a shocker. I really wonder wht the total number of fully paid new insured folks will end up being and then that same number after the end of the year and into the spring of '15, when new rates will be applied. If things keep going as it looks like, come mid may will be when the new actuary tables will come out, this will be a key time because if rates go through the roof(which is what I expect), there's going to be a steep drop off in renewals.

Tell me again what's so bad about the Canadian healthcare system?

Is there a limit to the changes that Obama can make to the ACA? By the way, Bush is no longer in office. Also, Bush's mistakes do not justify Obama's mistakes.

Remember last fall when the Republicans wanted to delay implementation but obama & company said the law was the law and couldn't be changed?
wouldn't

Major pieces of legislation, like Medicare Part D and Obamacare require tweeks after the fact, and tweeked they were. Bush did the right thing. Ditto Obama.

Forkie, every govt giveaway program is certain to grow, then grow, then grow, then expand. You can make excuses 20 years from now who's fault it was that the ACA bankrupt the country, yet these excuses won't change the fact that it did.

Presumably you predicted that your friend Nick was telling the truth about his ACA rates. And he turned out to be a lying scuzz, right?

Face it, Boilerman, you're not very good at this predicting stuff.

I will be with my friend Nick on February 28. He lives outside of Chicago and I live in Indianapolis, so we don't visit often.

I'll find out the facts, and I'm certain to confirm that what he stated was accurate.
