Chilcoot's post saddens poor old DonDiego.
On his recent brief vacation to the Big Apple DonDiego was actually going for a more European look; obviously he failed, . . . at least in Chilcoot's eyes.
If DonDiego were wearing his Hopalong Cassidy cowboy outfit he'd look American, . . . but he hasn't worn it for, . . . well, . . . decades at least. It wouldn't fit now anyway, as it was manufactured for a 6-year-old DonDiego. And even though the sidearms were cap pistols, they'd've likely been frowned upon in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area.
Pleated khaki pants with an appropriate leather belt, a collared pastel button-up cotton shirt, blucher shoes, and a wide-brimmed hat for sun-protection seemed seemed downright Continental for a Summer in the Big City to DonDiego. As did the blackthorn walking stick he carried as a consequence of a recent fall; it could also have served as a weapon had DonDiego been accosted by any ne'er-do-wells or miscreants. The JCPenney underwear would have given away DonDiego's true nationality, but he was careful not to let any show.
And DonDiego's bathing attire was also quite fashionable among the haut monde in Europe, . . . back in the good old days.
Round here we'uns do dress real downhome 'merican, . . . denim bib overalls over a white t-shirt, boondockers, and a ballcap with a logo, . . . preferably that of an agricultural implement supplier or, if you have to, an ACC or SEC football team.
[For the grammarian sticklers who monitor DonDiego's posts, . . . DonDiego knows he has employed the first-person and second person in the above sentence. 'Round heh' we'uns don't usually employ the third person exclusively in conversation. Why, heckfire, DonDiego's neighbors would pr'bly think he was a mite tetched in the hey-ED if'n he spoke that way.]
Maybe next time he's photographed DonDiego'll try to wear AirJordan hightops, sweatpants, and a hoodie so's Chilcoot will recognize him as a true American.
