...is proof that higher minimum wages cost zero jobs - for many poor people, who typically work for minimum wage.

Is it the the poorest who are getting the jobs, or just the poor? I don't know. But it's amazing how you need to twist your argument to distinguish between the two. Have you thought of getting a job with Cirque?

No twisting required. It may very well be true that small increases in minimum wage may not cause businesses to reduce their labor force. That's an entirely different question than 'Is the minimum wage preventing more unskilled, unemployed workers from being hired'. I'm arguing against Government setting any minimum wage. That should be set by the market for labor. Damn. Must stop...posting...

The findings of the Commission do not indicate that "getting tough" on illegal immigrants would improve the conditions of the allegedly displaced workers. That is the CONCLUSION that YOU lept to.

Quoting verbatim: "The Commission views this topic as complex, and therefore makes no specific recommendations at this time."

This point should be easily proven, given the extensive raids in the midwest several years ago.
Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama. I think that's seven.

Gee and here I thought that minimum wage jobs were for teenagers and people that did not have any job skills. Minimum wage was NEVER designed for people to make a living wage. It is designed for people to get a start for higher paying jobs. (oh wait, they all went to China, Mexico, Vietnam, all some other countries due to things like WAGES)

Keep asking for higher wages, in time the costs for services will make them unaforadable to the average person and wages will come down or your favorite burger joint will simply go out of business.

Example:

Whirlpool
GE
Frididare
GM
Ford

All of these businesses have severly cut their US workforce due to in part to Wages and benefits.
Jiffy, you must have been sleeping during your Economics 101 class. If the supply of unskilled labor is decreased and the demand for unskilled labor remains constant, then pay for unskilled labor will increase.

This is a fact.

If you want to really increase the wages and standard of living of poor unskilled American workers, then get tough on people working here illegally.

There is absolutely no EVIDENCE that the cause and effect relationship you suggest is real.

obama and company keep saying there isn't a scandal but the IRS keeps apologizing

"The new head of the IRS has apologized to those who suffered because of the agency’s targeting of conservative groups, after he testified before a House subcommittee for the first time.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told reporters after the hearing before the House Ways and Means Committee that the singling out of such organizations for special scrutiny would be “intolerable,” and vowed the IRS is not doing so now."

It is a fact that that THEORY is taught in Econ 101. I wasn't napping; I graduated cum laude A.B. Economics.

It is not unlawful for the IRS to "target" particular groups. A simple showing that this was an efficient use of resources is all that is necessary to avoid Constitutional challenge. According to your theory, it would be unlawful for traffic police to monitor traffic on one street, but not another.
