If I had a million dollars, there is no way I would spend it on drugs to "make me feel good", as I would be feeling pretty good already!
I think I actually found the answer to this question. I believe that all morality is SOCIAL morality. I.e. our morality is that set of standards that allows us to get along in society. We need various people for various reasons, so we have a set of rules that we live by, in order to please those we depend upon.

However, in our society, a person with a very large amount of money can use money to over-ride those social requirements, and without the social requirements, the "morality" becomes uneccessary. I.e. wealthy people do not have the same perception of "limits" or "boundaries" that the average person has. This change in perception eventually overrides ideas of right and wrong.

It's like my grandmother used to say, it's always something. Either PSH is ODing, or Bob Dancer is stealing breakfasts from the hotel. Goodnight, Jane.

Oh, no! Please don't tell us that we drink kool aid. It hurts us, and makes us feel so terribly intellectually inferior.

"No, Dude, that had NOT occurred to us." Brandt, the perfect sycophant.
i have a question about the phrase drink the kool aid. how much time will go by before people dont understand that jim jones reference. if you say that to a 18 year old today, will they even understan what that means.

All liberals are intellectually inferior. no matter how many cities you bankrupt in america, or how many countries like greece you bankrupt, you still think your policies werent the cause of the problems, and continue on with you idiot thinking of give everybody something for nothing to get votes, and borrow and print to pay for it all, until everything collapses. SO YES.You liberals are all stupid and always will be. Rand Paul 2016. ps, before you bring up Bush, he was a really a democrat, and spent like one, so dont go there.
Rest in Peace Mr. Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
He could act.

DonDiego understands Mr. Hoffman left behind a girlfriend and their three young children.

Balderdash !

Even if heroin were regulated and legal it is unlikely the addiction of Mr. Hoffman would have ended otherwise; the need for an ever-higher high had taken hold long ago.

"Nearly 70 small bags of heroin and enough prescription drugs to fill a pharmacy were found in the Greenwich village apartment where troubled Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman died of an apparent drug overdose, sources said.
Investigators found the huge heroin stash after executing a search warrant, and also discovered an assortment pills used to treat a variety of ills and ailments including anxiety and attention-deficit disorder.

Timothy Bugge, the new commanding officer of Manhattan South Narcotics, emailed the alert to supervisors asking if they had dealt with heroin labeled 'Ace of Spades,' or 'Ace of Hearts.'

Authorities also want to determine if Hoffman’s supply was laced with fentanyl – an opiate given to cancer patients to soothe their pain.
The fentanyl-heroin combination has been linked to more than 100 deaths in America – with more three dozen deaths in Maryland since September.

Among the prescription drugs found in the apartment were clonidine hydrochloride, a blood-pressure medication, buprenorphine, an addiction treatment drug, Vyvanse, which is used to treat attention-deficit disorder, hydroxyzine, which is used to treat anxiety and methocarbamol, a muscle relaxer."

Poppycock !

Poor old DonDiego would be quite impressed by jillyf's conclusion that wealth leads to immorality, because the wealthy perceive there are no longer limits to their behavior, unlike normal folks.

Except, . . . it does raise some questions:
__Why is drug use a problem in poorer neighborhoods?
__Why are the violent crime rates committed by poor people against other poor people living in poverty stricken neighborhoods so high?

Should not their impoverishment restrict these residents to observing the strict, harsh limits under which they exist? Or have such citizens never possessed any "social morality" at all?

From batch to batch, Hoffman could have no clue of the strength or purity of his drugs. And I get that DonDiego's strong suit isn't history. But prohibition kills, whether you're talking now or in the 1920's. From the University of Houston's Digital History project:

DonDiego's strong suit isn't logic either, since he believes that a--->b is contradicted by c--->b.

Yes, none of that would ever happen, if it wasn't for liberals. Thanks for your opinion, Adolph. One piece of advice: steer clear of the crystal meth.
