Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead

Rest in Peace Mr. Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
He could act.

DonDiego understands Mr. Hoffman left behind a girlfriend and their three young children. -----------------------------------------My take on his death;- I have no sympathy for Hoffman. While he was an actor, he apparently was not man enough to marry his girlfriend and give his children a name. His lifestyle and his subsequent death by drugs demonstrate to me a lack of respect for himself. He has thrown away his life for another "high". To me, he was just another junkie who happened to support his habit through acting.
DonDiego apologizes to forkushV and jillyf.

He was in a pugnacious mood, . . . probably related to aging and "manopause", when he posted.

All he intended to say was Mr. Hoffman, having already been addicted and rehabbed at the age of 22, was seeking an ever higher experience; whether heroin were legal or illegal he'd've pr'bly came to the same end.
[DonDiego isn't convinced legalization of heroin is a good policy]

And, . . . that regardless of wealth folks will take drugs to "feel good"; the result is often lamentable for them and their families.
[DonDiego has never taken an interest in recreational drugs and is unlikely to do so; he does occasionally ingest alcohol, but if/when he feels mild giddiness he stops. On those rare occasions decades ago when he had achieved a drunken state, he has always been a happy drunk.]

It is quite the conundrum. Does it make sense to allow intoxication in private but not in public? The crime is the exposure of oneself as a drunkard?

For the record, whenever DonDiego has been drunk it has been in public in the company of friends and acquaintances. No charges were filed.

Drug addiction is an awful demon.

I just heard on the news that he made $1200 in ATM withdrawals the day before, and 70 packets of heroin were found in his apartment. Even Sharlene couldn't do that much!
A warning to DonDiego and all others who would corrupt and debase society with their wanton immoralities:

"If your behavior is loud, boisterous or lewd, the police (may) arrest you for public intoxication as long as you appear to be under the influence. In fact, in some states, you do not have to be legally intoxicated - with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 - to be arrested for public intoxication. The law requires only that you "appear" to be drunk.

Some states have no public intoxication laws, although some of those same states do have laws prohibiting drinking in public."

This is your first warning. And no pinatas, either.

DonDiego is a rebel by nature.

However, in our society, a person with a very large amount of money can use money to over-ride those social requirements, and without the social requirements, the "morality" becomes uneccessary. I.e. wealthy people do not have the same perception of "limits" or "boundaries" that the average person has. This change in perception eventually overrides ideas of right and wrong.
