Advise for Downtown Eating

We visit Vegas 3 times a year and rarely visit Downtown Vegas. We are planning on spending one day seeing the "new Downtown" area and are looking for recommendations for food.

Seeking two options,

1. Light Lunch
2. Nice Dinner (no budget)

Of course we are interested in other sights and sounds you suggest we see.

thanks
I'm a huge Fremont Street fan, and I usually stay at the Golden Nugget.

You won't find the same variety and quantity of dining establishments downtown as you will on the Strip, but a great meal can still be had.

For lunch I would suggest either Magnolia's Cafe at the Four Queens .. or 777 Brewpub at Main Street Station. (The latter would be fine for dinner, as well.)

For dinner consider Vic & Anthony's at the Golden Nugget, or Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queens (every lady gets a rose!) I've never been to Binion's Steakhouse, but I have heard very good things about it - and the view is supposedly fantastic.

Hope this helps a bit. Have a great time!
I thought the magnolia cafe was below average.

The recomendations for the high end are good choices.

The Mob Museum is worth a visit
I hear Bags is an expert on the subject.

I will add to the dinner conversation.

I like Second Street Grill at Fremont. Not as fashionable as some of the other options, but excellent food. I can recommend the linguine with shrimp and scallops in a Mascarpone cream sauce, roasted duck with blackberry, whole snapper.

Hugo's for the overall experience. The main entrees are the weakest link but they get big points for the tableside salad preparation and martini presentation.

With the LVA coupon The Flame should be in the mix. Nothing creative, but solid fare. I only consider this one with the coupon.

Vic & Anthony's serves the top steak downtown. USDA Prime.
I like the Triple George for lunch. Recommend the fish tacos.

Found Hugo's to be a bit too pretentious but it's something to experience for yourself. It's iconic.

Don't know if it was because we were drunk and our server barely spoke English but we had so much fun at the Flame f/k/a Roberta's. We would order and the waitress would try to guess what we wanted. Most of the time she got it right.
The California probably has the best lunch diner downtown - but the lines can be long.
I ate at Binion's Steakhouse for the first time several weeks ago and the food and service were excellent.I also really enjoy the Flame.Food always very good, service can be spotty at times.LVA coupon makesit even better.

A server speaking the same language as you classifies Hugo's as pretentious. Lol

Triple George is good.
For lunch I'd strongly consider Le Thai, on Fremont one block before El Cortez.
