After the Election - The Pen and The Phone

"Here's a quandary for you: What if Obama issues and executive order to combat Ebola"

What law would that contradict? However there are established immigration laws & he is saying he will disregard them to do what he wants

When did he do that?

That is what is he said he will do.

Can you provide a properly cited quote? And if not then shouldn't you admit you made that position up?
" President Barack Obama defended his plan to use executive powers to implement some immigration reforms, saying in an interview broadcast on Sunday he had waited long enough for Congress to act

Obama told congressional leaders on Friday he would try to ease some restrictions on undocumented immigrants, despite warnings from Republican leaders".

There is also the mysterious purchase order for millions of green cards

I like to think I'm a pretty good reader.

I've gone through your quote with a fine tooth comb and nowhere can I find anything about legalizing illegal immigrants.

President Obama firmly rejected advice from top congressional Republicans on Friday that he delay his promised executive action on immigration reform, dismissing calls from critics inside and outside his party to allow Congress to debate the issue next year.

Over a two-hour lunch of Bibb lettuce salad, herb-crusted sea bass and pumpkin tart, House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and their lieutenants warned Obama that his acting alone on immigration would spoil chances for bipartisan agreement on other issues in the new GOP-controlled Congress.

Seated with 12 top members of the House and Senate in the Old Family Dining Room, Obama shot back that he intended to proceed, saying that he had already waited almost two years for congressional action on immigration. He added that his decision should not upend chances for cooperation on unrelated matters, according to aides familiar with the exchange.

The new focus on Obama’s plans to revamp the immigration system by executive fiat came as the president is reportedly reviewing proposals to allow as many as 5 million illegal immigrants to stay in the United States at least temporarily, according to several people familiar with his plans. He is expected to announce his intentions after returning from a visit to China, Burma and Australia, either this month or in early December, said those familiar with the subject, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Summary: The Obama intends to change the status of "illegal immigrants" to, . .. well, . . . DonDiego isn't sure, . . . maybe it'll be called "Obama-immigrants-with-newly-authorized-semilegal-status-until-The-Obama-can-just-declare-them-'legal'-or something-else".

DonDiego knows pjstroh requested a "properly cited quote", but:
i. those who spoke sought anonymity because they are not authorized to speak from within the most transparent administration in history.
ii. The washington Post is the nearest "proper source" DonDiego could find.

DonDiego might be shocked to learn that illegal immigrants have been living in the US for decades.
What were those illegal immigrants called when they were allowed to stay in the US in any of the previous administrations? Did they have a catchy, hyphenated, 20 syllable phrase like DonDiego is ascribing them now?

In any event - DonDiego is right. Congress is quickly looking for a new excuse as to why they cant do their job. 4 years until now the excuse has been they didn't think they could trust the president....now the excuse is the president is about to hurt their feelings.

Pollsters estimate that any 2016 presidential candidate is going to require 2/3 of the Latino vote to win. The president is doing something to address Latino concerns...Congress is looking for more excuses as to why they cant. Speaker Boehner's latest excuse is he thinks the president's executive orders might "poison the well". I wish the speaker good luck selling his lack of action to the Latino community. I'm sure they'll understand.
"Pollsters estimate that any 2016 presidential candidate is going to require 2/3 of the Latino vote to win"

The democrats will need 2/3rds of the Latino vote, The republicans won't.

So what PJ is saying that the democrats need to buy off the Latino vote to win, and in order to continue to win they need to legalize the current illegals. I think that would be called pandering to the voters.

By the way illegal immigrants have always been called illegals; it is the liberal pc crowd that came up with the new name - undocumented.

You didn't answer the earlier question - what other country allows illegal immigration?
To answer PJ's question, "When did he (Obama) do that". "That" of course means.................allowing millions of illegals to enter the United States in violation of current law.

How about last month, this month and next month? Ignore the truth all you like, but he has told the world that can show up and will not turn them away.

And you know what? "They" have shown up, and Obama has not turned them away.

This is reality. You know it, and I know it, and everyone on this site knows it this is the truth. Some brag about it.

How about his lack of enforcement of pot?

Oh, in short, no Liberals because Obama has made laws, approved laws, and enforces laws. Obama has ignored laws. Liberals won't answer my question because they know he is likely to put his illegal actions on paper.

Now, let's talk about what congress is supposed to do, and what the president is supposed to do. Maybe even a little judicial talk. PJ, please explain when is it acceptable for Obama to create his own law, approve his own law, and finally enforce his own law? Next, when is a acceptable for Obama to ignore judicial verdict? I've noticed that no Liberal will answer these questions instead you guys do a nice Liberal Two Step (Think Urban Cowboy meets Brokeback Mountain), followed by the Liberal Jig hyhh followed by The Twist.

No liberal has answered your question because the premise of your question is absurd and false...Obama has not created / approved / enforced his own LAW. I'm, of course, going by the Constitutional definition of the word "law" which is very different from your definition. Unfortunately for you the Constitutional definition is the one the Supreme Court goes by. Bummer, huh?

But let me play. No president (not even Obama) can write down a law on paper ....forge signatures from Congress ...and order federal officers to enforce it. I would gladly scold any president who tried.

If you are confused about "executive Orders' and "laws" then I suggest you go sit in on a Constitution class at Brownsburg High School. I'm sure the 11th grade teacher (or one of his smarter students) can help you out. And if you are simply outraged by the very idea that a president might issue an executive order then you've got a couple of centuries of presidents to vent at before you get to Obama....including all the ones you happily voted for.

I'm glad that Snidely agrees that Obama is too late. Yes, he needs a ridged, iron clad procedure for protecting Americans. This policy could include sending many American medical doctors and scientists to Africa.

It also must include insulating the balance of Americans for 21 days from all who've potentially come in contact with Ebola.

He's done a shit job, but his room for improvement.

Will Obama write an executive order to halt private space flights? So far, he's heeded the advice of Boilerman. Boilerman must be happy.

Its really a slow news week in conspiracy land. The Ebola apocalypse has collapsed so Boilerman now has to scream about Obama issuing executive orders he hasn't issued ...or plans on issuing.

Dont worry Boilerman. Obama will be issuing some executive orders over immigration within a few weeks so you can lecture us about how illegal / unAmerican / unprecedented executive orders are. And then Ill ask you if you thought they we illegal / unprecedented / unAmerican under George Bush. And then you will not answer and complain that I'm changing the subject.

Cya in a few weeks!

Here's a quandary for you: What if Obama issues and executive order to combat Ebola. You'll have to compliment him and criticize him at the same time. You can just stick to criticize him for being too little, too late. Whew. That was a close one.
