Another Story 'Bout Young Black Men

"A handful of young men cautiously enter [Buddy's Small Lots in Wayne, NJ] before heading downstairs.

They do a little shopping, calling out to a clerk who never shows up. After doing a little mental math, the guys decide to pay for sunglasses and batteries, even though no one's around to force them."

Ref: Men Enter Closed Store by Accident, Pay for Purchases
Irregardless of color, It's really encouraging to see the "yuts" act appropriately and pay for their items. I'd like ti think that a majority of younger folks would act in the same manner.

It's good to see articles about good deeds every now and again, don't see 'em too much anymore.
good deeds indeed
Very nice to see young men who know right from wrong. Kudos to them and their parents.
BTW, one of the guys was white.( not that it matters, just race was mentioned)

I agree. Good news articles like this are a breath of fresh air!
I find it pretty sad when what used to be normal behavior is now the exception and is found news worthy. A feel good story, none the less.
This seems like a contrived situation to me. If I walk into a store and don't find any employees after a reasonable amount of time I'd put the merchandise on the counter and leave. Door "malfunction" and notifying the local media to boot and it all adds up to a fishy story.

I have been in stores close to closing time and they look deserted.
I believe the door lock malfunctioned. The store called the media to thank the men and offer them gift certificates.

We have local farmers who have stands in front of their properties with produce and an honor system to leave the money. They have had 2 thefts in 5 years.

It's a plausible story, but if my life depended on it I'd have to say the situation was concocted.

I've seen a few of those honor system stands and have actually bought some stuff at a few.
