Anybody remember this quote from 2009?

A Democratic majority is emerging,” Carville declares. “This majority will guarantee that the Democrats remain in power for the next forty years.”
DonDiego prefers a quote from 2013:
"I don’t really care to be President without the Senate,’’ The Obama, November 2013

DonDiego lives on hope.

Shrillery & bubba lost some credibility as they campaigned for several candidates such as hagan, pryor, quinn and udall who all lost & in a few cases got smoked
It's up to you all,my trusted friends here.
Your voting is MY voting.
Every time I voted during the last 5 years, I have been asked to serve on jury duty.
No thanks.
My trust goes with you.
Salute!
I voted and I am glad I did.
Working the polling place were a couple of older Gentlemen. Both were ex-Vietnam Vets and both thanked me for voting. I thanked them for their service and shook their hands. One of the Guys joked that this might be his last election - "We've still got it good here", he said. Awesome.

Ahhhhhh, . . . . .

There's nothin' so fresh as a brand new Congress.

Thanks, Obama !

From the WSJ

The numbers tell the story: In 2009, Democrats had 60 senators, when you include the two independents who caucused with them; in 2015, they will have 45. In 2009, Democrats had 256 members of the House; in 2015, they will have 192. In 2009, Democrats had 28 governors; in 2015, they will have 18. In 2009, Democrats controlled both legislative chambers in 27 states; in 2015, they will control only 11. In 2009, Democrats controlled 62 legislative chambers; in 2015, they will control only 28 (with one tie and two still undecided).
I think its potentially a very positive development the GOP took the Senate. You are already hearing much more responsible rhetoric coming from the Republican leadership. With a majority postion in both houses they now have to actually "govern" instead of "wet their pants about Obama". It was just a couple short years ago where John Boehner proudly claimed on 60 minutes he despised the word "compromise".....and Mitch McConnell had no ambition beyond making Obama a one term president.

Now in the center spotlight I hope they actually try to legislate instead of summon the ghosts of Ken Star in the Bengazhi circus. Many good things can be accomplished with infrastructure and tax reform. I suspect the grownups in the GOP are smart enough to learn from past mistakes....Unfortunately the loudest voices in the GOP to date have been the "non"-grownups.

So Now we get to see which wing the party listens to: the grouwnups ....Ted Cruz.....or even worse....

Thereare over 300 bills from the House sitting in the senate that reid wouldn't allow a vote on. obama said yesterday that if he receives bills he doesn't like he will just issue an executive order

Thats almost as insightful as your commentary on presidential vacation days.

House bills sitting in Senate at normal levels
And here's a prediction Hoops will be certain to ignore: The number of House Bills sitting in the Senate this time next year will be the same.

Here's what's not normal.
Record number of filibusters by least productive Congress in history

Regardless, it looks like Republicans no longer want the legacy of being the least productive Congress in history.... so they may actually do something. I think its a good development. I hope they follow through. But dont worry, Hoops. Not all is lost. You can still pretend to be upset whenever the president plays golf. Thats your right as an American.
