Bagiant, good luck. These kinds of cops are called ticket whores.

I'm from a law enforcement family. I got a ticket once for not coming to a complete stop at a blinking red light.

Motorcycle cop had me stopped ticketed and was gone in a blast.

I fought the ticket, postponed a couple of hearings, and finally he did show up and he was fucking pissed off at the fact I would challenge his ticket. What a POS. I still lost.

The judge reduced the fine in half which was cool. I got to cross examine him and he was fucking livid.

I spent 20 mins. trying to break him but couldn't. This happened in the friendly city of El Cajon.

If I had to do it all over again, I would hire an attorney. I wouldn't think twice.

Ticket whores huh? Yep, how dare a cop give you a ticket for breaking the law!!

Tree girl, were you there? Why would you assume I broke the law just because a cop give me a ticket?

I was driving in the middle of a pack of about 15 cars, along side and in the front of me.

When I was stopped, there was not a word of explanation other than asking me for my info, handing a ticket back, then off he went to his next victim. I was stunned and caught off guard and determined to get to the bottom of this. Was I profiled? Who knows. I never attacked his character. Didn't have too.

I had a needing to know for his lack of interaction in my situation and wanted to look him in the eyes and have him answer for his actions. Nothing more, nothing less. That I did.

I didn't agree with the judge's decision to side with the officer, but there are not perfect either as I have an older brother that is a judge, and they do the best they can.

Sorry if I offended your lilly white beliefs that police are never wrong, they can't be, you'll married to one, right.

Your comment was typical pro police, and all people of color are guilty as charged, right.

Good luck.......

How does it feel miss air buscuits.

In your own words.......

" I got a ticket once for not coming to a complete stop at a blinking red light."

Tell me where my assumption came to play?
You are an angry person...WTF does miss air biscuits(fixed your spelling) mean?
If I got a nickel for everytime I witnessed a cop breaking a traffic law I'd have enough cash to pay for my next Vegas trip.
Why should you get off for a ticket you received because you broke the law and happen to know x number of cops. You're guilty! I'm sure the law doesn't allow you to use your phone at red lights and I'm also sure you knew that. You shouldn't get a hall pass anymore than the teenager with some phony excuse. Man up, pay your fine and move on.

Good Luck!

Why even bother going to the "Law Library" ????

The officer (who has been trained in such matters and probably has a degree in Criminal Justice) told you

"as long as you were driving and the key was in the ignition you were liable".

*** CASE CLOSED ***

............. and consider yourself lucky you don't live in New England,
where the cops hide behind those giant snowbanks with radar. lol

I'm with treegirl -

you knowingly broke the law, so shut up and pay the fine.

I was doing 65 on a 50 mph highway and so was everybody around me. I got picked out of the crowd and pulled over.

I asked the cop why me and he said "why not you"?. He further said "there's a lot of fish in the sea and I'll never catch them all but today I caught you".

I was 19 at the time, maybe that's why he picked me, I'll never know but it taught me a very valuable lesson. Break the law and man-up, pay the fine, learn from your stupid mistake and move on.

You saved me a lot of typing. I have deserved a ton more tickets than I've ever received. I didn't try to worm my way out by knowing somebody. Man up and pay-- you were wrong -- own it!
I see people on cell phones and texting all of the time in California.

My pet peeve in California are the drivers who are darting in and out of traffic and making very dangerous lane changes, just so they can get a little further ahead. I never seem to see them pulled over.
When I went to court to plead not guilty, I met a clerk from the court that got the same ticket. She told me it was a good thing I didn't have a smart phone like she had because you get a 2nd ticket. WTF??? She said the judge dismissed that charge, but apparently the cops can cite you for a 2nd ticket if you get caught talking on a cell phone. This law I've just got to see. I'll let you know when I look it up.

I don't know why some of you are telling me to man up and pay the fine. These tickets started out as a $10 fine and were to increase with each offense. Now they charge you $162 for a first offense. All they are trying to do is create revenue, so why not try and get out of it?
Why not leave your phone alone while driving? My gosh... you spent the majority of your life without one, didn't you?
