Bikers and the laws of physics

Just an FYI - my original comments on the participants having guns was a joke. I honestly wasn't expecting people to spend two pages playing out that hypothetical example. But, hey! This is the free-for-all section..so have at it!

Relax pj, you're clean on this one.

So the driver speeds up, gives gun to wife who shoots through back window and nails lead cycle (She misses someone else gets it) After she nails the second biker, maybe we head to the police station and check in. I'm betting no one follows too closely!

So with a two year old kid strapped into the backseat the wife, from the passengers seat "shoots through the back window"? Brilliant! Shame about the kids permanent hearing loss though.

In 1980 I was running a small mining operation in New Mexico. On a Friday afternoon I was returning from the bank in town to the mine with the cash payroll for my employees. On a rural mountainous road I was suddenly overtaken and surrounded by what to me seemed like 30 motorcycles with visibly armed, Bandido color wearing riders. (it turned out to be 11). They aggressively motioned for me to pull over. I held up my pistol without aiming it at them and they all slowed and fell back.
A few moments later they all roared back up around me, several had pistols drawn. I fired one shot aiming off sight at the bike next to me's gas tank. I hit somewhere on the front of the bike. Again they all fell back. I was driving as fast as I could while ducking below the level of the seat. If they fired back they did not hit my vehicle. As I approached the limits of a small town they turned off the road and ceased following.

This was not a movie script or fantasy. Its real life and happens all the time. Also to note, these were not "young punks" on little bikes harassing drivers. they were Bandido gang members with a very violent history and reputation.

As a side note, I abandoned that truck in Santa Clara New Mexico and never went near it again. It was still there, in a vacant lot next to a roadside restaurant 6 months later when we closed the mine

You saved the payroll from bandidos? You really are a cowboy! Did you get the medicine back in time to save the charming schoolmarm? Interesting story though. It's amazing how closely it matches the events being discussed here.

I'm just a broken record on this, it's a bad idea for one person with a gun to shoot at 25 people with guns. It works in movies and tall tales, but unless you're a real life Rambo, it will probably end poorly. Counting on 25 guys running vs 24 guys running and one guy shooting back. If you can figure out VP odds, this should be easy.

If 24 guys with guns want to kill me, I'm probably a dead man but at least I'd like to have a slim chance to survive. Don't know why this is hard to understand.

I understand this perfectly. You really should either read or re-read this thread. They are not saying they will lose a 25 on 1 encounter, but go down fighting. They think they will easily win a 25 on 1 encounter.

Huge difference.

I would have kept on running those MF'ers down. Never would have let myself got trapped in traffic!

The SUV itself is an extremely good weapon in and of itself tho, it could easily take out half the bikers alone especially at high speed. A guy on a bike trying to make a shot at someone driving an SUV would require an expert shot, or a damn lucky one, again while at high speed with a guy trying to run you over.
I just heard on CNN thatan off duty police officer was part of the biker group. He just came forward.
What an effin moron.

The officer was working under cover and infiltrated into the gang.

It isn't a gang. It was a group of motorcycle riders out on their annual run to Times Square. There were also groups from Long Island, Brooklyn and New Jersey that participated. The same day this happened, I participated in the 30th Ride for Kids from the Raceway to the Town Square Mall in Vegas. The difference was that we had Metro police blocking off entrance ramps until the entire body of riders passed thru. We hit speeds of 95 on Las Vegas Blvd and 110 on the 215. This whole road rage incidence happened because the NYPD didn't stop traffic on the ramp and this guy decided it was a good idea to ride thru a bunch of parked motorcycles.
The undercover cop was a narcotics officer riding on his free time, he wasn't infiiltrating "the gang". There were at least two other off duty cops in the group.
If you watch the video, there were quite a few other cars around, that weren't being attacked, nor were they trying to ride over motorcycles or motorcyclist.
I'm sure all of you would have watched the SUV ride over your friend, crushing his spine and not give chase to the driver. Right?
Gang mentality = gang.
The bikes slowed down, stopped and surrounded the SUV. The officer who came forward was indeed undercover.
