Bob Dancer's most current column

He is trying to justify taking breakfast from the motel he stayed at.

Is he just digging a bigger hole for himself?

To me, I don't think it is behavior I would want to disclose to my readers.

Bob Dancer's column
I will go back to my original comments. Here is a guy who is supposedly making a decent living playing VP, giving seminars etc. and yet he has to worry about a $70.00 hotel room. Why risk an embarrassing situation over what amounts to a $5.00 per person breakfast. Writing these type of comments really hurts his credibility IMHO.

Um, because he's not embarrassed.

If you read Freakonomics, you'd know that it's the upper income people who are most likely to swipe a bagel without paying for it. And Dancer previously cited Duke professor Dan Ariely, who has shown that everyone cheats...a little. Everyone as in absolutely EVERYONE. Even you. And me.

It's the honest ones that admit it.

I agree everyone cheats a little. I think you missed my point. If he was called out by the hotel management it would be embarrassing. I still question if the guy is totally full of it. I mean come on if he is making the money he claims to be and playing at the level he claims to be why in the world is he worrying about whether his room is $70.00 rather than $60.00. I do wonder if he would mind if I bragged about stealing his software or admission to one of his seminars. BTW neither have I stolen, now the shampoo and soap at The Beau Rivage is another story and when Caesars' had the really cool shampoo bottles....well we won't go there.

He did miss your point. Even if Dancer does some of the little things he mentions, he shouldn't be disclosing it to his readers because of the nature of what Dancer does. I realize he isn't selling a system but is selling strategy for gambling. He needs to look like he has an impeccable reputation to his readers, even if he doesn't exercise complete honesty in life.

If there's one person I don't trust, it's someone who projects an impeccable reputation.

He's moved from promoting a system for gambling to promoting a system for living one's life.

If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.

Nah, you're thinking of Jean Scott, who actually recommends that frugal gamblers pocket food from the buffet line to eat later. Dancer isn't promoting any type of behavior, except maybe that people should have a little self-awareness about their own less than impeccable behavior.
I have to side with this is stealing or cheating. Just because it's done by others does not make it right at all. As a somewhat public figure I would be more careful to what I write about. I honestly think he should mail a check for $10 to the hotel and call it a day.

Ever notice how it is the egotistic know-it-alls who like to say it is alright to steal, just because they say everyone does? Moral less blowhards, all of them.
