Bye bye Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker)

Spot on Bob, great points all. Treyvon's mother(and attorney) was on the view being interviewed by Whoopi and the other black lady and it was just as expected. The kid was an angel who never caused any trouble and was..well, an angel. Yea, right.

The problem, of course, is that phrases like "in a case like this" can mean very differen t things to different reasonable people.

As I understand it, this man will go on trial tomorrow. He is stands accused of shooting a child to death last year, one of the worst crimes I can imagine. If, following trial, he is determined to be a murderer, I will be glad to know that he will not be immediately killed, even though there's little doubt that this man shot the child.

It sometimes takes us a long time to convince the government when it's made a terrible mistake. Let's not compound those mistakes by spending millions more than we have to just to make it impossible to try and fix those mistakes.

To me, the less our justice system resembles the systems used by Iran, North Korea, and this guy, the better.

But that's just me.

If someone bigger and/or stronger than me was slamming my head into the ground or pavement and I had a gun in my pocket, I'd shoot him too.

I find it amazing that you defend murder with mailce against actual children and condemn self defense against someone who is not a child.

Exactly. Or this..

Personally, if one of these animals is convicted using DNA of a capital crime and sentenced to death, I say take them straight to the wood chipper. I found Chilcoot's suggestion to Bob uncalled for. Apparently Chilcoot does not like being held to the same guidelines he utilizes in his zeal to let everyone know just how smart he thinks he is. The more Chilcoot posts ,the easier it is to see just what a pompous ass he is.
I would rather see 99 Guilty people not be put to death, if just 1 in 100 is later found not-guilty. JMO So damn, I agree with Chilcoot. That will not happen too often!

The only way the death penalty will ever truly be a deterrent is if it is sure and swift. Unfortunately some innocent person would be executed, although I find that highly unlikely now that DNA and all of the other high tech CSI stuff is out there. But yes it could still happen.

We have to ask ourselves is it worth the risk. The innocent person that is executed could be some one near and near to you or me.

After reading about Ted Bundy, Richard Speck, Richard Ramirez my only regret is that it took so long for them to die.

There is a world of difference beyond those mentioned above and George Zimmerman.
We should still have an Honorary Crank of the Wood Chipper in Mr. Ramirez's memory.
RE GZ trial starting-I've read a few articles bt diff. news outlets and it's such BS in the way some want to slant it by saying "..is on trial for the murder of a child" and "..is on trial for fatally shooting 17 yr old".

Attemptimg to sway the reader just a tad?

Actually, I think I have a solution for the whole capital punishment thing:

If someone is put to death but is later proved to be innocent, the prosecutors who pursued the case will be.....sentenced to death! After all, and eye for an eye...
I suspect that this thread will soon be just another victim of a semantic terrorist, due to the "F-bomb" having been triggered.

Should that warrant the wood chipper?

Along those lines I say anytime you are going to parole or otherwise turn lose one of these "rehabilitated fine citizens" they get to live next door to the people that set them free.
