Cashiers Check

I am planning on a trip to Vegas this Fall and will probably stay at the Palms and Harrahs. Is it a good idea to take a cashiers check instead of carrying a lot of cash and will the hotel I am staying at cash a 7k to 10k dollar cashiers check?
Why not just set up an account with the casino ahead of time or take travelers checks? Much simpler.
Cash in a money belt plus travelers checks.
Don't pay those ripoff ATM fees.
ATM charge?? There is no ATM charge affiliated with a cashier's check.

By the way, you can cash a personal check at Harrahs for any amount (that funds are available) and no need to set up account in advance.
Open up a line of credit with the casino.

You could electronically transfer funds ahead of your trip to their cage. Call to set it up.
No need to take any extra steps described. Simply fold a personal check and put it in your wallet. Go to cage to cash the check at Harrahs. No fuss, no muss, no pre-arranged credit limit, no advance transfer of funds to casino, etc. and no cost associated with transaction.

Do I have to fold it? That seems like a lot of extra work.

Not if you put the check in the bottom of your shoe. But I would recommend you slip ons so you won't be burden with unlacing and lacing.
