Dancer's Column July 30

In the beginning of his last column, Mr. Dancer claims he was the victim of a scam, names the person he is accusing, and even goes so far as to publish two mug shot pictures.

He than continues with his column, although he does not go into details about the "scam", promising next weeks column will have the rest of the story.

On his radio show #128 July 25th, he again brings up how he was victimized. This segment of the broadcast may be found at about 1m30-3m-30.

Basically, his "loss" amounts to $2200. My understanding is he gave someone (JWT) a $2500 ticket, expecting JWT to cash it and return $2200.

You can listen to the podcast HERE. Or wait for next week's follow up (Part 2) column.

There has also been some discussion about this on other forums and groups.

Mr. Dancer claims he just wants to alert others so that they do not fall victim to this individual.

Thoughts?

Opinions?

I don't keep up with the trials and tribulations of Mr. Dancer. But why couldn't he cash the ticket himself?

The only people I'd trust to cash a ticket for me are family or close friends and I wouldn't consider it a scam if they stole from me.

Guess I'll just have to wait for next week so someone can update me on this and Dancer's love life.
I didn't listen to the podcast, but I found his article annoying. First, in newspaper parlance, he "buried the lede." That is, the intriguing story is the theft, but most of the article was the comparatively dull stuff about the related casino promotion. Also, the story was a "teaser," designed to get you to tune in next week. And I find teasers and burying the lede...annoying.

A couple of observations. First, if any part of Dancer's accusation is false, both he and Las Vegas Advisor could be on the losing end of a big time libel judgment. This isn't some anonymous forum poster; an LVA employee pushed the "publish" button on this one, so I'd bet an attorney or two has been consulted on this.

Also, for those who own a bigger megaphone than the rest of us, it must be gratifying to be able to do stuff like this. I remember a movie in which the George Clooney character referred to the Luxor as a shitty place to stay. I guarantee you a bigwig in the production was once mistreated by the Luxor. Gerry McCaimbridge of Mentalist fame was able to post the video showing the faces of the guys burglarizing his home to probably thousands of followers. So if I were in Dancer's position I would do the same - but I'd write about the interesting stuff first.

DonDiego stands corrected.

He must have been trying to beat reporting a win over 1199. Why wasn't he with the person when they went to cash the ticket?
