DC Federal Appeals Court Kills Obamacare Read it and weep

The tears pouring out of my eyes today are the same ones I shed when the 11th Circuit declared the individual mandate unconstitutional.

Of course we all know how that wound up.

Isn't it a wonder that more problems keep coming up to humiliate Mr. Obama. But this issue really isn't that bad, considering how many low-life Medicaiders there's been added who get everything for free. I hear he's giving a speech to them during his 16-day "escape from the horrors of reality" on Martha's Vineyard.

That's not quite how it works. If you make below a specific level of income based on the federal poverty level, you cannot sign up for an ACA health insurance policy. The only ways to comply with the mandate, or face the fine for not complying, is to sign up for Medicaid, or pay full health insurance policy premiums out of your own pocket. The ACA literally forces people who have never received a dime of government financial assistance to do so to avoid federal tax penalties. You must accept welfare or you will be fined. That's the boat I'm in. I don't make enough money to qualify to buy an ACA health insurance policy. The government said I had to enroll in Medicaid. Had to. I didn't want to.
Poor BobOrme is, well, poor and had to sign up for Medicaid so that there's a mechanism for paying for the health care that statistics say he'll almost surely need but definitely can't afford because he's poor.

And so now the doctors and nurses that provide him services can be assured of payment that poor people like BobOrme always wind up needing but can't pay out of pocket because they're poor.

Poor guy wants to just rely on his ability to declare bankruptcy and leave the rest of us holding the bag like poor sick people have been doing for decades. But now he can't.

Boo hoo hoo.

You fucking pinhead. I don't want anything paid for by anyone else. I still pay for my doctor's office visits and I also pay for my prescriptions. I'm not crying about it. I'm proud that I haven't had to rely on other people to pay my way for anything, even given my current economic status. I was forced to sign up for Medicaid by your Messiah to be compliant with his law. ...and you ridicule me for doing so. I wasn't dodging any potential future personal financial obligations. I was obeying ObeyMe's law.

Oh, the humanity

Another fine mess...

While I think that is the conventional wisdom, I wouldn't count on it. I think the "carrot" argument is a pretty strong one regardless of the plaintiffs' motives.

DonDiego expects the full D.C. Court of Appeals will reverse the three-judge panel, . . . in agreement with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit decision which followed the D.C. Court of Appeals decision by hours. Hours ? Almost like they knew something.

"Justice Department officials said Tuesday they plan to seek an en banc review from the D.C. Appeals Court, meaning that the panel’s full contingent of 11 judges would hear the case. Six of the court’s judges would have to agree for the full panel to review the case. The full panel is dominated by judges appointed by Democrats, 7-4."
Ref: webmd

DonDiego supposes if, say 7 of the 11 Judges vote to hear the case en banc, the case may well be decided 7-to-4.

Sure, you're somehow special and will be able to live your years without need of expensive medical care you can't afford.

Lots of people tell themselves that lie.

Then they need the medical care and can't afford it. And the rest of us wind up holding the bag when they declare bankruptcy, and when unpaid medical service providers increase their billings to the rest of us to make up for it. $38 ibuprofen and $22 tongue depressers.

Having you enroll in Medicaid provides a manageable mechanism other than bankruptcy for the doctors and nurses and hospitals and whatnot you'll almost certainly need someday to be paid.

Poor you for having to fill out a form to enroll in Medicaid, our President is such a tyrant!

You really don't get it do you.

If one does NOT want any Government assistance, one should not be FORCED to take it.

Chilly, you are confused. Bob is arguing that able bodied folks should pay their own way. Best I can tell, Chilly is arguing that those who've decided to quit school or not arrive work on time should be subsidized by those who didn't quit school and who do arrive work on time.

I agree with Bob and the balance of us hard working Americans.
