The Dinger suspended for alleged drug use.

A.J. Allmendinger, driver of the #22 Penske Racing Dodge in the Nascar Cup Series, has been suspended by Nascar for failing a drug test. This ruling came down approx. 90 minutes before the start of tonight's Cup 400 miler at Daytona.

Penske is flying in Sam Hornish from North Carolina, in hopes that he can arrive before the green flag and drive the #22 Dodge. Daytona Beach Intl Airport is located just off the 2nd turn of Daytona International Speedway.

I sure hope this is just a case of Nascar screwing up a drug test......a false positive. I sort of like the Dinger.
I like him too, and I hope it's not true. Because this is the end of everything for him if it's true, Nascar doesn't forgive.
If this is true,it's pretty sad. When it comes to youth and drugs, nothing surprises me anymore.

Under NASCAR's rules, he will be suspended and then allowed to race after a period of time IF he passes the required drug tests. He still has a hearing to present any evidence of OTC or prescription drugs that would effect the test results.

I doubt he does. But sometimes, it seems that LVA may be using one.

Sam Hornish will again drive the #22 Cup car this weekend at Loudon.

Penske has issued a statement, The Dinger's business manager has issued a statement, but not one peep out of A.J. himself.

This situation with Nascar and drug tests is a bit cloudy.....if one looks at past incidents:

The Jeremy Mayfield situation was an absolute mess. Still not entirely convinced he was on meth, altho the evidence is heavily weighted against him. One has to consider that Brian France (who should be tested himself for drugs) really had it in for Jeremy.

Let's go back some 24 years and the Tim Richmond situation. Nascar and a doctor falsified drug tests to keep Tim Richmond from racing in the Cup Series. Here is a excerpt from the wikipedia page devoted to Tim Richmond:

"In 1990, a few months after Richmond's death, Washington television station WJLA-TV and reporter Roberta Baskin reported that Dr. Forest Tennant, who was then the National Football League's drug adviser, "falsified drug tests" that ultimately helped shorten Richmond's NASCAR career. Baskin reported that sealed court documents and interviews showed Tennant and NASCAR used "allegedly false drug-test results in 1988 to bar Richmond from racing". Baskin also stated that NASCAR had targeted Richmond, requesting that Tennant establish a substance-abuse policy with Richmond in mind. A series of drug tests and falsely reported positive results shortly before the 1988 Daytona 500 kept Richmond from driving in what was to have been his last big race...", the report said. The New York Times published the findings. While neither Tennant nor NASCAR supplied an official response at the time, NASCAR did confirm that they were seeking to replace Tennant."

So, one has to ask this question. Is A.J. Allmendinger a drug user ? Or did he just piss somebody off at the top.......like Jeremy Mayfield and Tim Richmond did ?

Knowing Brian (2 cases of bourbon) France and how his pickled mind operates, I would trust him about as far as I could throw one of his 3,500 pound non-stock stock cars !
Mayfield continues to be a train wreck, that big house of his is not too far from ours, interesting watch the local media follow his court adventures on almost a daily basis.

As for AJ.... like they say in the barber shop: Next!

Blade - According to Jayski, that big ole house of Mayfield's (and a sizeable chunk of property) sold on the courthouse steps not too long ago. Has the sheriff evicted him yet ?

A.J. has requested Nascar test his B sample. He has also issued a statement denying any drug use. He has also lawyered up !

More to come in the next few days......
