Does anybody on this board own one of those collapsible garden hoses

Another fishing buddy saw the collapsible hose, which is very light, and bought one for his wife to use to water the garden. As we age, the weight of tools matters more.

I am of the old school. I have a set of good quality large diameter rubber hoses. They sit out in the sun all season and get dragged all over the place. They are heavy but I have never had to patch or replace one, aside from replacing the worn brass couplings on one after 40 years.

For the X Hose they have a heavy duty version now. I'm strong enough to carry a rubber hose, I just find hassles with them including crimping, rolling them back up and storing.

I bought one of those non-crimping hoses and it sure was worth the extra cost. The one in the front yard does crimp and it's a pain having to walk back uphill to uncrimp it.

By the way, I saw an ad for the original expanding hose and the original inventor is jumping back on the infomercial bandwagon stating why his is better. Might cost a little more but it sounds like it's worth it.

Sounds like you all got hosed...
The are a very cool and useful design. However I hear they break very easily. My friend bought one and it broke within a week. He took it back and the lady said these things break all the time. We constantly have to swap them out for people. When she swapped out the one for my friend she said "see you tomorrow". He said hopefully, it last a couple days. The funny part is that he broke it the same day and had to go back the next day again.

They do have a heavy duty version of the hose now. I would try that one. other than breaking it works great.
The X-Hose Pro is supposed to be more heavy duty. X-Hose is the original maker of this kind of hose.

X-Hose Pro

I saw it at Home Depot for half price...figured there was a reason they were trying to unload it, so didn't buy it.

Then this should be your new avatar.

Bwaahahaha, Hilarious! That one really caught me off guard, that was great. I always thought that was the goofiest commercial, I think I just ruined my keyboard.

I forgot to post what I originally was going to say.

my wife bought me one of those "hose reels", the one that flattened out as you "reeled" it in. The whole thing, reel and hose was size of a small pizza box. Looked great on the infomercial, in reality it was a POS. You had to lay the entire hose out, make sure there wasn't a single twist, then very carefully start reeling in, and it still was a PITA after all that. I ranked it up there with the "spud glove" in effectiveness.
