Another fishing buddy saw the collapsible hose, which is very light, and bought one for his wife to use to water the garden. As we age, the weight of tools matters more.
I am of the old school. I have a set of good quality large diameter rubber hoses. They sit out in the sun all season and get dragged all over the place. They are heavy but I have never had to patch or replace one, aside from replacing the worn brass couplings on one after 40 years.

I bought one of those non-crimping hoses and it sure was worth the extra cost. The one in the front yard does crimp and it's a pain having to walk back uphill to uncrimp it.
By the way, I saw an ad for the original expanding hose and the original inventor is jumping back on the infomercial bandwagon stating why his is better. Might cost a little more but it sounds like it's worth it.
