Don't you hate when you order food at a drive through and find it is missing when you sit to eat.

I've really been impressed with the carhops at the Sonic restaurant chain for service and friendliness. I'd rate some of their attention to detail and service better at times than what I've received at upscale places.

Jack in the Box and McDonald's employees seem to be more mechanical, unhappy and impersonal.

Totally agree, except we don't have Jack in the Box.
Have never been impressed with McDonald's customer service. I'm guessing their employee training is more about the mechanics, less about a welcoming attitude. Sonic customer service is top notch.

But it can depend on management. We went to two different Wendy's in the past week (they had good coupons). One store was excellent, friendly employees, inside was clean and sparkling. Overall a fun experience. The other store was horrible. Girl taking orders acted annoyed because we took half a minute to decide (and they weren't busy, nobody waiting). Worse, the inside was humid, furniture was sticky, torn carpet and torn booth seats. Worst of all, the place smelled of dirty mop mixed with Pine Sol. And speaking of things left out of an order, though the eat-in experience was bad, at least I was able to go back to the counter and get the cashews which were supposed to have come with the Asian salad but were left off! I let 'em have it on the online feedback survey. I got an immediate response, but I won't go back to that place.

Once I visited a KFC.

I approached the counter and started to ask a question.

I was immediately interrupted with "For Here or to Go?" (clerk ready to enter info in the register)

I started to speak again, initiating my question that I had.

I was immediately cut off again with "For Here or to Go?".

I paused a bit, then started to talk again.

I was very abruply stopped with a loud and aggravated "For HERE or to Go?".

I loudly shouted back "I don't know if for here or to go yet,
because I haven't received an answer to my question that you refuse to let me ask".

Taco Bell has an app.
Starbucks screws up my extremely easy order of unsweetened black iced tea (it's just tea and ice!) every now and then, for some reason they like to add in the sweetener. I've learned now to take a drink before leaving the building.

Funny story about my friend who drove all the way to Wendys to get their chickent tenders, special trip! When she got home there were only 4 tenders in the box instead of 5, so she called and complained, asking if they could count. A few days later she found the rogue tender under her seat, lol.

Jack in The Box and In-N-Out have really good customer service, at least at the locations I've visited.
So am I the only one who always looks in the bag and sips the drink before I pull away? My standard McD's is their dble c/b & large DP for $2.39...can't beat it for lunch.
I went to Mickie D's the other day a bought a big breakfast (eggs/sausage/biscuit/hashbrowns) and they left out the hashbrowns. Now I check the order before I leave.

All fast food places are quilty of this, however it up to you to make sure they didn't short you and to leave quickly when you get more food than you ordered...
Years ago, Burger King was doing those "Have it your way" commercials and ads for their Whopper.

During my travels, I went into more than a dozen different BK's. I would tell them "My way is FREE." I "scored" on many free Whoppers, although I did often pay for a beverage, and on occasion made a "big deal" by asking for the store manager when my request was denied by the front end clerk. It was a rare store that did not, eventually, honor my request. I did not visit the same location twice.

Just started doing it for fun for lunch. ::: shrug :::

I bought a burger at Sonic once and they forgot the meat. They got the condiments right, but beef was never part of it.
