Early check in question

I have been reading about the early check in charges at various casinos. If rooms are comped, (flamingo) do they still charge for early check in or is it waived? Has anyone been there on a comp and was still charged the early check in? TI has a resort fee, but if you are there on an offer you can opt out of the fee.

Potentially yes. I had a ridiculous conversation with a clerk at the desk at Rio on this topic. A room wasn't ready, but she told me it would be subject to an early fee any time prior to 4 p.m. This was just prior to noon so it wasn't a surprise that a room wasn't available. I might have paid the fee if I could have checked in during the morning. Regarding the prior to 4 p.m., I asked even at 3:45?? She said yes, unless the manager drops fees at some point. This policy creates a major line and logjam at 4 p.m., by the way. ... Given this information and with four hours to spare, I went to the strip and gambled at Wynn. Not out of spite, but just because of the rules she outlined, I figured it made little sense to keep checking back and I didn't want to pay an early arrival fee at 3:30.

I will say I have had little trouble checking in early, with no fees at other Harrah's properties.

Tropicana in AC has (or had, I haven't been there in a few years) a policy that check in was at 4pm. You had to line up and wait until 4pm for them to start checking people in. Quite a stupid system.
I am almost always early and have never been asked to pay an early check-in fee in Vegas. I have in Washington State.

we were in vegas last april and there was no mention of an early check in fee. Did this just start recently? Seems i have been hearing about it just in the last month or so.
Of all the asshole moves by LV casinos over the years this one takes the cake. If they don't have a room don't give it out. What do you gain by trying to screw people out of 2 hours in a room you can't make a dime out of anyway? All you do is give people a sour taste for spending money there or ever coming back. Most people will take a couple of hour nap and wake up ready to spend money. I can't imagine anyone fool enough to blow 50 bucks on an early check in fee.
To give credit I checked into 4 Queens and Terribles last month before 3 and was politely given my keys for FREE. The rooms, with taxes, cost less than this farcical fee.
With all of these asinine fees the "bean counters" have dreamed up, it isn't any wonder why per person gambling revenue has diminished. Vegas is pricing itself out of business.

If they keep getting too greedy about things they will lose my business. I checked into prices for this year and they are through the roof. And, every place seems to be charging extra for this and that.
When did all these fee's start snowballing out of control, was there a specific year? I remember when I was in Vegas in 2007, and I dont remember having to pay a Resort Fee back then?
The IP(The Quad) ALWAYS charges me for early check in.
