Ebola

HEY !

This is RoadTrip's "Ebola Thread" !

DonDiego respectfully requests that forkushV and anyone interested in the topic of Fearless Liberals vs Fearful Conservatives - or vice versa - initiate a thread addressing this topic elsewhere.
Okay, so Samaritans Purse seems to be leaving, also the Peace Corps. Are there any atheist groups out there fighting the good fight?

Well that's the last straw. DonDiego is canceling his planned vacation to the Lacampagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Lagos, Nigeria.

Actually poor old DonDiego already had some misgivings about the trip, based upon a review on Trip Advisor :

"Went on a work treat to this resort & spent one night there. We checked in around 8pm & had dinner. Everything was going fine until I went to my room briefly to freshen up & I saw a rat! I complained to the head of maintenance & he tried to brush it off by saying that it's a beach environment & of course there would be rats. I started shouting & then he said he will send someone to 'spray' the room & kill the rat. I called a couple of hours after that incident to ask if the rat had been killed and I was told it had. Well, I thought spraying meant some sort of fumigating. Only for me to return to my room around 2am and still see the rat scampering about. I tried calling the mainetenance office back but no one picked up. I couldn't sleep with a rat in the room so I sat up in bed all night. When I was finally dozing off, I felt something on my leg & saw a huge cockrach crawling on me. Needless to say, I didn't sleep after that. I packed my bag and waited till morning. In the morning, I went to have breakfast which was tasteless- the bread rolls were burnt & the omlette was bland. I then took a shower- a very cold one as there was no running hot water. I then left my room for a while to go to the beach front & try to at least have some fun even though I was extremely tired from lack of sleep. I was gone for about an hour. When I returned to take my bags, I was met by a staff who yelled at me that I need to leave the room right now as someone was checking into it. I ignored her & just took my things as I was too happy to be leaving the horrible place. On the way back, my other work collegues also told me stories of them seeing rats in their rooms & having plumbing issues which made showering difficult. Anyone thinking of going, I would advice you NOT to spend the night. Just go for the day. Take with you your own food & water."

Heckfire, the guy only gave the resort 2 stars !

DD, I thought you just gave us a stern comment about limiting topics on this thread to Ebola? I'm concerned to know if you're feeling well, as you normally stay on topic.

DonDiego is on topic.
The previous poster advised that Ebola may be heading to Lagos, Nigeria. DonDiego responded that he is not heading to Lagos, Nigeria.

DD, your attached comment addressed rats, roaches, and tasteless food at a resort. Unless I missed something, there was no mention of Ebola. Going "off topic" is no bother to me whatsoever, however I'm concerned that DonDiego setting a double standard.

The reviewer's mention of rats and roaches at one of Lagos's premier beach resorts is an indication of the sanitary conditions conducive to the spread of Ebola which one might find throughout the region.

DonDiego thanks Boilerman for giving DonDiego the opportunity to clear his name of this despicable charge of not adhering to the topic of an LVA Vegas Free-for-All thread.
It looks like the disease is pretty much out of control in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The Governments plan on instituting the “cordon sanitaire,” in which a line is drawn around the infected area and no one is allowed out, . . . sorta like during the medieval era of the Black Death in Europe.

The 10 confirmed cases in Lagos, Nigeria are all apparently linked to a Liberian-American who arrived there on a flight and later died. The Nigerian Government judges it need not participate in the cordons.
