El Cortez to add resort fee

Article says the fee will be $9 and include:
*In-room wireless Internet access
*Local calls
*Access to the fitness center
*Entry into the daily slot tournament
*Two bottles of water
*A complimentary bottle of wine with the purchase of dinner for two in the Flame Steakhouse (or two glasses if a single dinner)

Don't forget free parking ?
Just another reason to stay locally here in the midwest rather than returning to Las Vegas.
Sucks that Nevada keeps letting their hotels disguise their prices this way.

Be mad at the casinos that introduced this distortion into the market. Be sympathetic to the casinos that have, following years of resistance, been forced by competitive pressure to follow suit.

I booked the El Cortez a couple of months ago for 4 nights in March. Will I be exempt from the resort fee?
Yes.
DonDiego still considers "The El Cortez - Las Vegas Like It Used To Be" property to be his home-away-from-home when in The City of Schools and Churches.

Nonetheless, he'd characterize it as more of a "joint" than a "resort".
He would gladly pay the $8.95 joint-fee, . . . but be reluctant to pay a resort-fee.

For the record: Years ago DonDiego used to pay $10-per-day for internet service at the El Cortez, . . . so this new fee ain't really so bad.
