Favorite restaurants in these cities

I love trying out the local eats as I travel the country. I'll be driving my daughter out to Nashville (she'll be attending Belmont in the fall), and I'm hoping to get some quality food as I pass through these cities.

Omaha
Kansas City
St. Louis
Nashville
Oklahoma City
Albuquerque

Only requirement is that they need to be places that wouldn't be inappropriate/scary for a 10 year-old.

I've checked out a couple of Man vs. Food episodes on these places and have a couple ideas. But I'd always rather hear from the masses....

Thanks in advance
Go to the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives website.

DD&D? No.

When in KC, it's BBQ. Go to LC's which is out near the stadiums.

Diners Driveins and Dives is not a single restaurant, it is a show on the Food Network that features some incredible restaurants all across the nation with great food.

I guess you better not order ribs at your place. They only got 3 stars (out of 5) for a slab of ribs and 2 stars for all other ribs. Some would call that a deal killer if a barbecue restaurant has average to below average ribs.
I agree you have visit a BBQ joint in Kanas City.

Now getting people in that town to agree about the best place is no easy trick. There is also Oklahoma Joe's, Gates and Arthur Bryant's
In Omaha I would visit the "old Market Area" very family friendly and lots of restaurants. Will you be in town for lunch, dinner?
V Mertz gets exceptional reviews but it is high end for sure.

Little more info and I will try to help you out.
These stops will be late lunch/dinner. We'll be driving the first part of each day. Don't need anything high end, and it doesn't need to be THE best place in town, just good. Not chains, unless it's just a local chain. I watched the St. Louis "Man Versus Food" episode and the Iron Barley joint looks like just what I'm looking for. In Denver I went to the Cherry Cricket because of the MvF episode and it was awesome.
Omaha old market area, these are all omaha original joints

Nicola's Italian wine-fare
13th and Jackson Steet

Zio's Pizzeria
3 locations in town
Old market address- 1109 Howard Street

Pitch- pizza is the big draw however, they do have a filet on the menu and pork chop as well.
Opened by Willie Theisen who was the founder of Godfathers Pizza.
Coal Fired ovens make for some tastee items.
This location is more mid-town Dundee neighborhood
5021 Underwood Ave.
Not a huge place and it does fill up. Alcohol drinks as well as food

You can view all the menu items online at their websites.
If wanting to stay close interstate 80
Anthonys steak house is "old omaha Steakhouse" it is located south off 72nd street exit, just a couple of blocks. When in Omaha steaks are a great tradition.

good luck
In KC, we went to Jack Stack Railyard for BBQ. Had baby back ribs and the burnt ends. Sides were awesome and the local favorite is cheesy potatoes. The beans are the best I've ever had. We bought their rub (the all purpose is hard to find outside KC0.

We also did a Triple D restaurant called Smolin' Guns. We enjoyed that, havinf a sampler platter and burnt ends, but liked Stack better. jack Stack is more upscale with prices to match. But it was worth it.
