FCC sacks NFL blackout rule

Okay. In the future I'll refer to these folks as "the group who demands that the government give 'em free shit", and the "group who doesn't demand that the government gives 'em free shit"

I hope that makes you feel better.

How many people have personally decided to attend a game in person because of the black-out rule? It would never play into my thought process.

Me neither, not for a second.

The NFL has been granted tax exempt status from the Federal Government. They are also granted millions of dollars a year from state a local taxpayers wherever an NFL stadium exists. They are the proverbial welfare queen that drives her Cadillac to the bank to cash her check. If the NFL doesn't want to subject themselves to the whims of government I'd suggest they start paying 35% of their profits into taxes and quit taking money from the state and local tax payers.

PJ, I don't believe that we should desire that the government mandate that companies do what the public desires. The government should limit itself to Constitutionally legal positions.

I find that Liberals don't care about constitutionality, but instead argues that "I want to watch football on Sunday". Why must the NFL do this? Must they also give away 25% of their seats to the poor? Must the Colts be mandated to build facilities in the "inner city" because folks "want it"? Are there any limits what the government can mandate that a company do because the people want "free shit"?

While I don't like black outs, why the hell is the FCC telling a company that it MUST broadcast. Government, get the hell out of the way!

It won't happen right away, but the FCC got this one right.

Thats not the ruling. Cable companies want to broadcast the games...the nfl teams have prevented them from doing so in the past. The FCC is telling the team owners they cant do that now. I think its a great move...especially as someone who lives in Indianapolis. We got screwed on Lucas Oil Stadium. Taxpayers funded nearly all the money for the stadium...and the Colts get all profit from the concession stands even for non-Colts events. The least they can do is let us watch the home games.

Ya know.. I think I kinda agree with the pinko-commie crowd on this one because I agree with Mal here.

(is that more acceptable than liberal/conservative?)

Your laissez Faire philosophy was not utilized when our state/municipal governments gave a massive handout to the Indianapolis colts by building them a stadium with our collective tax dollars. I dont have a problem with the investment....except for some of the aforementioned terms. Asking to be able to watch the games in the stadium my tax dollars helped build is not too much to ask.

I was just suggesting you speak to the specific issue instead of using crutches and cliches. Makes a more compelling point. But carry on. I seldom pay attention to political rhetoric in here.

PJ, please explain to us what my position was and is regarding the collection of taxes to build the Colts a stadium.

Scalpers won't be happy with it. LOL.
Referring to one as a Liberal as far more concise than referring to "one who demands lots of free shit". I'm simply attempting to save time for all of us. Many people don't wish to be labeled with the truth, and I understand why some folks don't like it.

Sorry.
