Georgia gun legislation

"House Bill 60, also known as The Safe Carry Protection Act, will allow licensed gun owners to carry their firearms into public places, including bars, nightclubs, schools, churches and government buildings.

“People who follow the rules can protect themselves and their families from people who don’t follow the rules,” Deal said, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. “The Second Amendment should never be an afterthought. It should reside at the forefronts of our minds.”

Get ready to watch crime rates drop.
Yes sir, now convicted felons can "Stand Your Ground" and you can bring your gun to the airport what a wonderful world.
No, felons are not allowed to carry legally. The problem in the past is only felons have been carrying and now felons and good guys will be carrying. It'll decrease crime, which will piss off Liberals.

felons aren't allowed to own any type of firearm. Somehow I doubt this law allows to carry in an airport, that's a Fed. thing.

I'll add that I can't say I'm crazy about this law. I don't think anybody should be able to carry w/o first obtaining their CCW.

DonDiego doesn't know the details and he's too lazy to Google it, . . . but the initial post did refer to "licensed gun owners", . . pr'bly a CCW license.

The new law address those concerns by A. Making it illegal for state law enforcement to ask a gun owner if he/she has a permit for their gun and B. It allows the felon to invoke the Stand Your Ground defense even if they were illegally carrying. I am drunk in a hotel room otherwise I'd provide a citation, but all one has to do is Google it.

Certainly an envelope pushing concept. I a wonder if a felon could break into your home to rob you, wait for you to say "stop thief" and then shoot you based on the theory he was afraid you had a gun and were going to shoot him? It also kind of kills the whole concept of felony murder. So if your a criminal in Georgia make sure to always carry a gun and kill your victims otherwise you wont be able to use this new envelope pushing defense.

Don't you feel much safer now?
Can't wait for a trash talking episode at a sports bar to turn into a gun fight. Good luck, Georgia.
Crime is down over 50% in the last twenty years, but it seems like fear is up about 1,000%. I'm sure the folks at Depends™ are grateful to Rush, Fox, etc., as are the gun manufacturers and the gun fondlers lobby.

But for those who are sincerely interested in reducing crime, it looks like the environmentalist hippies might have been right:

The privileged class is freaked by all the Democracy.

They don't understand it and react by (1) decreasing the Democracy and (2) finding reasons to shoot people.
Crime will decrease in Georgia, followed by Forkie and Chilly claiming that the decrease was caused by a decrease in the lead content within gasoline.........or something equally ridiculous. It'll be a hoot to watch 'em make stuff up and pull random stuff out of the air.
