Goodbye, adieu, adios, cheerio, ciao, toodle-oo….our swan song

Thank the heavens. Now we can get back on topic.

Welcome back DD and Teecher.....

One suggestion made before by others is to create a Politics forum on the paid side and instead of deleting anything that turns political - move the threads there......censorship that stimulates business for the LVA as people renew subscriptions to reply. That's censorship the American way!

Subscribers have a choice. Either accept the direction of the forum or move on. If one has the need to discuss politics, find a forum that focuses on discussing politics. If I or you or anyone else leaves LVA, the sun will still come up tomorrow. The world's not going to end if I or anyone else decides to move on.

I don't understand, why in the world would a seperate forum where the dreaded topic of {gasp} politics bother anyone else here? Seriously would it really upset you all that much just knowing that the topic was being discussed somewhere else on the LVA and those participating were enjoying talking with people that they have gotten to know here and obviously like to keep abreast of happenings? OF COURSE theres' other political forums on the net, tens of thousands probably, but when's the last time you tried or had a meaningful conversation with twelve hundred strangers? My guess would be zero.

I beleive it would be easily moderated as well, simply have a one and done policy. Screw up ONE time and
WHACK , you are outta the Pol. forum(or at least "timed out" for a few months or whatever ,if you act like a child, get treated like one. Any thread over here that gets deemed "political" simply gets moved over there.

Seems like a simple solution to an obviously thorny subject.

BTW, It's still BEYOND me why oh why would anyone read or keep reading a thread they don't like and bitch about it later. It's just like eating a really sh!tty meal(the whole plate) and then go and raise heck with the chef and yell about how bad it was. Doesn't make a bit of sense.

  • Anger? Check.

  • Ad Hominems? Check.

Damn I'm good! As I wrote, just a few minutes ago:

A separate forum for political threads would NOT personally bother me as I would hardly ever look at it. However, that is NOT my point. My point is the ownership of this board has moved in the direction of no political threads. Either accept it or move on.

  • Hmmm, so you assumed that my post was about you. I don't see the ad hominems. I don't see any more nastiness than in your post about DD. I have no anger. I recognize you for who and what you are.

+1 again. Nowhere did either MissL7777 or myself say "there shouldn't be a separate forum for political threads because we don't like political threads and need something to bitch about". What was stated was that the owner of the forum has stated "No Political Threads" many many many times. Folks who like political talk have been given 2 choices. Accept it, or go away.

btw, I don't mind political threads at all, and have participated in them when they were allowed. I just happen to respect the fact that the owner of a website is well within their rights to dictate the content of that website.

its still beyond me why oh why anyone would read or keep reading a board they dont like the rules of and just bitch about it nonstop after.

  • "trolling"
  • "One must truly have no life"
  • "What a sad life"

    Got self-awareness?
  • This has been gone over ad nauseum.

No matter what anybody says, political threads most of the time become very contentious, which is an atmosphere they don't want on this board.

If I ran a bulletin board that involved baking, sewing, cars, etc., do you think I would be in my right to ask that political threads not be started?

This all started when there were more political threads on the Page 1 than there were threads about Las Vegas.

Please stop whining about not being able to start political threads and consider the wishes and rules of the LVA.

  • How ironic. Look at your last sentence. What a sad sad life you must lead.
