DonDiego finds himself in the awkward position of supporting arshaleign’s [
AKA forkush’s] position.
Several years ago when DonDiego’s paid membership ran out the ID “DonDiego” quit working in the free Fora. DonDiego communicated to odysseus that he’d like to have his “DonDiego”
nom de plume restored, and odysseus did restore it.
As DonDiego recalls arshaleign [
AKA forkush] explained in this Forum a few months ago that he’d chosen to just create a new ID.
[The only reason DonDiego keeps referring to arshaleign as “arshaleign [
AKA forkush ]” is because he believes it irritates him. DonDiego’s desire to irritate is one of many character flaws with which he is burdened. teechur can confirm this.]

Now back to DonDiego. Hey DD, when someone refers to you as a buttwipe, or claims you have a no life or a sad life, is the word "ad hominem" too strong a response. I'm still waiting for your guidance on this!
”ad hominem” would seem an appropriate description with reference to the claims of one having no life or a sad life; however, being a “buttwipe” might actually be pertinent to the argument. DonDiego would require specific details to decide.
From Urban Dictionary: 2.
buttwipe In other words: a jerk, asshole, jackass, or more importantly, "asswipe".
Usage: "Only pussy-whipped bastards that have no balls use 'buttwipe' ."
Nonetheless, why does arshaleign [
AKA forkush] believe it necessary to characterize his opponent's argument as “ad hominem” or “fallacious” or “far-fetched” or anything else. Advancement of the discussion/debate is not well served by describing the nature of one’s opponent’s argument; why not just address/refute the argument itself?
[Oh, . . . and DonDiego’s reference to “quarrelsome and disagreeable” folks was not aimed exclusively at arshaleigh [
AKA forkush]. DonDiego was merely echoing arshaleign’s [
AKA forkush’s] opinion voiced earlier: “Perhaps some of the nastiness [around] here should be deleted.”]
