Government Shutdown Was Planned Months Ago

The push to defund Obamacare through a "budget crisis" has been tossed around since February of this year.

From The New York Times

WASHINGTON — Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obama’s health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan.

Out of that session, held one morning in a location the members insist on keeping secret, came a little-noticed “blueprint to defunding Obamacare,” signed by Mr. Meese and leaders of more than three dozen conservative groups.

It articulated a take-no-prisoners legislative strategy that had long percolated in conservative circles: that Republicans could derail the health care overhaul if conservative lawmakers were willing to push fellow Republicans — including their cautious leaders — into cutting off financing for the entire federal government.

“We felt very strongly at the start of this year that the House needed to use the power of the purse,” said one coalition member, Michael A. Needham, who runs Heritage Action for America, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation. “At least at Heritage Action, we felt very strongly from the start that this was a fight that we were going to pick.”

Last week the country witnessed the fallout from that strategy: a standoff that has shuttered much of the federal bureaucracy and unsettled the nation.

Biglar, I like your reply. It is very clear and concise.
Add the Koch Brothers to the list of people Tutonow referred to in the original post.

The multi billionaire boys club known as the Koch Brothers have contributed $200,000,000.00 to this effort....the effort to SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT !

For those of you FFA readers who are not familiar with the Koch Brothers, they are the brothers who like to kill unions, reduce employee's wages to poverty levels, and they are also the brothers who tried to buy the 2012 National elections.

They are SCUM. Pure f#@&ing SCUM.

As of today the Republican party has a record low approval rating, Terry McAuliffe has a 10 point lead in the Virginia's Governor's race, corporate Republican donors are fleeing and if the next election were held today Democrats would hold on to the Senate and retake the House. Great Work Keep it up!
Yep, they played a game of who would blink first and they shot themselves in the foot. I have to admire Obama for finally showing some real resolve and telling Boehner to go pound sand.

Pounding sand. If a Democrat tell 'em to pound sand, the right wing says he's not a leader. If a Democrat negotiates, the right wing says he's wishy washy and a flip-flopper. If a Republican tell 'em to pound sand, the right wing says he's a strong leader that won't be swayed. If a Republican negotiates, the right wing says he's a strong leader that builds bipartisan support. And the right wing wonders why they are not in power.
Here is an interesting comparison:

Passenger pigeon: Once numbering in the tens of milllions, passenger pigeons were commonplace thruout the United States. They are now extinct.

Republican party: Once numbering in the tens of millions, Republican party members (and those sheep that voted for them) were commonplace thruout the United States. A serious blunder in Oct. 2013 by Republican party leaders has now rendered the party moot. Soon to be extinct.

I'm here to help
AP approval rating for obama is now down to 37%
The shutdown is costing America dearly, but it's costing the GOP the 2014 midterms. Every cloud...
