Isn't Disney World the happiest place on earth?
Apparently, no.

At Disneyland Hong Kong senior citizens have the time of their lives at an admission price of only $13-per-day. It is the Happiest Place on Earth.

Since I can't afford to go to Hong Kong, I will have to settle for Disney World

Umm, . . . yes, poor old DonDiego gets it, . . . although he's not sure it's ironic.

Each State has gotta work with whatever it's got. Some States will never be wealthy. Better management won't change that; better management won't raise the household income of Mississippi from $37,000 to $57,000, that of California. DonDiego opines one of the greatest advantages of living in a federation of States is that one is not prohibited from choosing to move from one to another. The more things are federalized, the less choice is available for individuals.

If "we should all share in the responsibility for caring for the poor", then the poorer States receiving a larger share of the alms is an inevitable result. If one favors federalization of charity, one should not complain about the inevitable result.
forkushV complained; DonDiego offered a solution, . . . based upon historical precedent. He hasn't seen another solution proposed.

Better education will surely have a positive effect on the household income. Maybe it's just my bias but I see these poor states worrying more about gay marriage and creationism than about the schooling of their citizens.

You don't believe God created the cosmos? No wonder you're an unhappy human.

It's immaterial to me if God created the cosmos or it's just some super lucky happenstance. Things on earth are strangely in balance for all this to have been some random result of the big bang. But if it's just the result of some random molecules banging together and creating this wonderful place we call earth, I'm happy as can be. Played golf yesterday and hit some really great shots. On the other hand, if an omnipotent being created all this, I don't think we, as a human race, are doing what we should be doing with all this wars and killing and arguing with each other. We should be nice to each other and live as God would want us to live. That makes me sad. So, in a way, I'm happier believing God didn't create the Cosmos.

My bad. I thought you were in the unhappy group.

DonDiego pretty much agrees with snidely333, . . . except he notes that if there is a God, snidely333 may find out it is not immaterial to him when he finds himself in Hell. He will know he is in Hell because DonDiego will likely be assigned to be his roommate.
OK, . . . here's the list of the happiest and least happy American cities:

And if one goes to Market Watch one can review the complete list.

For the record, based on his own experiences across the USA DonDiego opines that he judges happiness differently than the cited study. Although he tends to agree he would be unhappy in most of really unhappy cities, he would not be as happy as the study suggests in many of the happiest cities - Louisiana, . . .really?

After viewing DonDiego's map, I've concluded that the folks closest to a Gulf oil spill are happy and those furthest from Gulf oils spills are sad.

DonDiego supposes happiness has a lot to do with one's natural attitude. Some folks see a massive oil spill as an ecological disaster; others see it as an opportunity for free hair care pomade.
