Our Southern Border is obviously not secure. It never has been secure. Anyone who says it is secure is pandering. Even if it was secure, 40% of the people who stay here illegally drive or fly in with proper visas and just never go home.
A few simple Changes could stop this:
1. Make it a felony to hire or pay cash for work to the 'undocumented'.
2. If you've been deported and return or don't show up to your deportation hearing...It's a felony and you're subject to property confiscation.
3. Eliminate unqualified birthright citizenship
4. Begin charging the originating countries for expenses we incur related to their citizens.
5. Only Citizens and people from other countries here legally are entitled to ANY benefit funded by taxpayers That includes education, healthcare, or any other assistance.
6. If you are here illegally and caught, you are disqualified from ever becoming a US citizen or getting a work visa.
Ok...not so simple. But that's how to stop it...If you want to stop it. At that point, the Border Patrol could focus its resources on stopping the handful of people still crossing illegally rather than dealing with the massive influx we've been experiencing for so many years. Until we remove the rewards to come here illegally people are going to find the way.
At the same time, I'd be in favor of making it easier for people to legally immigrate to the US...especially those with skills we need, but that's just me.
