Harry Reid believes that out Southern Border is secure

Our Southern Border is obviously not secure. It never has been secure. Anyone who says it is secure is pandering. Even if it was secure, 40% of the people who stay here illegally drive or fly in with proper visas and just never go home.

A few simple Changes could stop this:

1. Make it a felony to hire or pay cash for work to the 'undocumented'.
2. If you've been deported and return or don't show up to your deportation hearing...It's a felony and you're subject to property confiscation.
3. Eliminate unqualified birthright citizenship
4. Begin charging the originating countries for expenses we incur related to their citizens.
5. Only Citizens and people from other countries here legally are entitled to ANY benefit funded by taxpayers That includes education, healthcare, or any other assistance.
6. If you are here illegally and caught, you are disqualified from ever becoming a US citizen or getting a work visa.

Ok...not so simple. But that's how to stop it...If you want to stop it. At that point, the Border Patrol could focus its resources on stopping the handful of people still crossing illegally rather than dealing with the massive influx we've been experiencing for so many years. Until we remove the rewards to come here illegally people are going to find the way.

At the same time, I'd be in favor of making it easier for people to legally immigrate to the US...especially those with skills we need, but that's just me.

Yup. In this case, it's "When George Bush was in office..." and Clinton, and Bush I, and Reagan, and Ford, and Carter, and Nixon, and Eisenhower, and Truman, and Roosevelt, and Hoover, and Coolidge, and Harding, and Wilson, and then.....I forget who.

You see what I mean with Liberals, and in this case Forkie. Because another has done wrong in the pass, Forkie believes that Obama deserves a pass.

Nope, he doesn't.

Truman did wrong when he desegregated the military? Lincoln did wrong re: Emancipation Proclamation?

Um, no. American presidents are powerful dudes. Get used to it.

Senator Reid did say "The border is secure." That's not entirely true, obviously, people get in illegally. So Reid's a moron?

Not exactly. Yes, he said those words, and in isolation they're wrong. But they were in service of a different point, that the current crisis at the border has nothing to do with border security. That upping border security won't fix this crisis.

And he's right. What we're seeing is children coming to the border and looking for border agents to surrender to. They're not looking to evade security, they're looking to find security and be apprehended.

That's what Senator Reid was conveying, that increasing security at the border won't help us with the current crisis.

"I believe our number one concern should be this narrow issue of how we take care of this situation we have on the border. As I’ve been told, the Cornyn-Cuellar legislation covers a lot of other issues other than the problem we’re having on the border. Had we done comprehensive immigration reform, we wouldn't be having this issue. And everyone here, the border is secure."
200 illegals a day are crossing the border and a small percentage are searching for border security. Reid is in idiot no matter how Chilly twists the truth.

I fully subscribe to the "changes" that alanleroyII has proposed - and because they make complete sense, they will never be implemented. If they were the Democrats would lose their largest voting block and the United States could get properly straightened out and back to being the once great nation I remember.

I call it "Comprehensive Illegal Immigration Reform". And let me add that there are plenty of Democrats who support it....just not elected ones.
Here around DC it's been found out that the feds have tried to quietly slip a coupla hundred of the illegals in surrounding county's. It's pissed off some of the local leaders because they weren't told of or how many would be coming. The school districts have been trying to plan out how many kids they're going to have, class sizes, bus routes etc. and they don't know. It suddenly got very quiet and haven't heard anymore, I would say the fed govt made sure there was plenty of many for schools and whatever.
Obama is hosting the most transparent administration ever!
