He stopped loving her today

George Jones dies at 81.
I cried when I heard. He was my all-time favorite. I saw him in concert many times -- drunk and sober -- and met him twice.

In answer to his hit song, "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?", the answer in George's case is NOBODY.
Sad. R.I.P. Possum.
RIP. He had a remarkable number of hit songs.

He had more hit singles than any other singer in any genre, according to a news report I heard today.
That sounds about right. Nobody ever sang leaving songs like he did, IMO. In addition to the topic of this thread, "The Grand Tour", "The Door", and "Good Year For The Roses", come to mind.
If you haven't heard it, Scooter Jennings has a great recording of "4th of July," ending with George Jones singing a chorus of "He Stopped Loving Her Today." And then George says, "When are we going to get paid for this?"
You were so lucky Sue,may God bless.
I too heard him many times. Even was there for a "no show". Really did love his music. I also love Willie and have a bottle of Crown ready for the day he passes away if I live longer than him. Would have a "toke" if it was Legal in Texas.
George Jones sang backup chorus in the early 1960's rock and roll hit "Running Bear". He sang great baritone.
