Help. Home email account has been hacked

Once or twice a day I now get about 20 messages from Mailer Daemon saying my email didn't go through, even though I didn't send anything. At first there were emails being sent to people and companies I don't know. Sometimes they would respond back and I would have to tell them I've been hacked. Yesterday it started sending emails from people on my contact list. The emails concern some link on Facebook.

When I go to Yahoo support, I just go in a loop when trying to find a solution.

Does anybody know of a quick fix, without having to delete my email account?
Can you sign in to your email? If you can, change your password.

Yahoo will contact you when enough of your emails are reported as spam. When they do, move quickly and follow their directions, because they may want to delete your email.

I'll try it. Thanks.
Those yahoo bastards deleted my account after I had it for over 14 years. They wouldn't even tell me why.

I've had someone hack into my hotmail account and someone told me to change the password and it has helped. I kept getting emails from people in my contact list. Fortunately, they were only url's from a Canadian pharmacy.
another thing to note, is it possible that your computer could have been infected with a virus? It is possible that the virus is the one that hacked you and is sending out emails on your address book and contact list.

you should run malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org for a free anti malware download) on your system to make sure that you don't have any infections that is causing your pc to send out emails.

your situation is one reason why I don't like to give out my email. I now keep 2 emails, one for my friends and family and the other I give out when asked. that way I can delete my other email if I have a problem like your and still have my main friends and family email.

You definitely should change your email passwords.

Also all your other online passwords for forums, financial, etc. They have your email and could "hack" other sites by requesting password changes through "forgot" at login.

Could it be related to the missing laptop?

That just might be it.
About a month ago, I had the same problem. I have ATT Yahoo and I had to call ATT to reset my password. After 3 hours on the phone, they finally were able get a temp password and was able to make a new password. Since then, I have had no problems. Good Luck
