High Roller Insight

With Today's News info on the High Roller, thought I would share some insight from a friend who works for CET:

Employees had the chance to ride the High Roller. They were not allowed to share pic formally, but I got to see them from my friend's phone. Beautiful views. Ride lasts about 30 minutes. My friend is deathly afraid of heights, but said it did not feel awkward. Also said the ride was extremely smooth and you don't feel the sensation of "rotating" or "rising and falling". From the views, you know that you are moving--but you don't feel it.

Based on this review, I just might consider a ride myself.

I was wondering if there would be reflections from the "glass" when taking night pictures ?

Seeing those guys lined up like that around the windowns made me think of a question we asked the CET representative when 'touring' the Linq area in March.

Husband: "Are there bathrooms inside the gondolas?"
CET Lady: "No sir. You need to go before you ride."
Is there anything inside the gondolas? Refreshments, bar, snacks, music, chairs, anything?

CNN has an article on the wheel, in which it states:

Quote

Each cabin holds up to 40 people weighing no more than 1,120 pounds in total

If you do that math it would seem to look like this:
1,120 maximum weight
40 people
28 pounds per person

It looks to me like whenever the wheel starts to fade with the older crowd it has a built in capability for a nursery school.

28 cabins x 40 people/cabin = 1120 people capacity of the ride.
The High Roller opened for business on Monday, 31 March.

"The first tickets were sold for rides beginning at 1 p.m. The 550-foot-tall wheel is the anchor attraction of the Linq, the new entertainment and retail complex directly across Las Vegas Boulevard from Caesars Palace."

And, . . . competition for The Tallest Ferris Wheel on Earth is already on the way:

The New York Wheel at 630-feet is scheduled to debut on Labor Day weekend 2016.

The Dubai Eye is planned to be taller still at 690 feet, and may debut in 2015.

DonDiego says "The USA cannot tolerate a ferris-wheel-gap !"
Even with the weight limit being misquoted, who wants to pay $35 ($25 during the day) and be jammed in a pod with 39 other people?

I'm sure they did some research that told them that $25 was a price that would maximize their revenue.

I think the LVA shorts had it at $35. I would imagine there are two separate rates for daytime and nighttime.
