Holy rip-off Batman...car rental rates have gotten disgusting

I couldn't agree more. Prices are really high. What one person is willing to pay is definitely very subjective. In Vegas, it was very common for us to pay less than $11/day + taxes for less than a week for a decent compact or sub compact. With some luck, you could get a complimentary upgrade. Sadly, that is no more. The only car rental company that does seem to come up around this price every now and then is the Godforsaken Fox Rent A Car with their very poorly maintained vehicles and horrible policies, long waits, and service. I suggest avoiding them like bare backing a cheap hooker.
Hey Now!
LindaP-
those codes work for me- only problem is I'm not a Costco member...
Try Fox. Everybody knocks them but I've never had a problem in LV or SF.
With the obscene prices, unless you are headed way out of the way or are a big jumping bean you might be better off combining shuttles and buses with some occasional taxi rides.
I'm now down another $4.00 for my 3 days in November and will be

paying under $57.00 for a compact car. My codes are: 7014840

and coupon code: AF5562FDJ. This is with a Saturday overnite

keep.

I don't see why most of you don't use the Priceline.com bidding option. You'd be surprised at how low you can get a car for, especially when you bid late. I've gotten cars in Florida at the airport for $10 a day. I was paying more for taxes than I was paying for the rental. Don't be afraid to put in a very low bid. You just don't know what they'll accept!

Yeah but how much after all the bullshit fees and taxes?

Took a fresh look and managed to get a car for my trip for around $25 a day (I can live with that)

Perhaps a few more weeks will bring the rates even lower.
Good work Joe K. Now you're shopping. Reserve a good rate that you can cancel if you find a better one and keep shopping.

Dont worry, you'll be back up to $50/day by the time they add all the fees/taxes/facility charges to your bill.
Joe, I booked Dollar for the second week of March and have already knocked off almost $100 from my original price. Just keep checking back and modifying your reservation as prices drop.
