How come conservatives are trying to dictate to business

Should I go on. Liberal policies have been a total failure in this state.

Most objective observers think things are getting better there since the Republicans have been removed from power to obstruct in that state. A lot could be learned from that example.

And remember on the property tax issue corporations and other business entities can live forever.

Ahh try again. The Republicans haven't had power for quite some time. Arnold was a RINO.

Bankruptcy is inevitable for this state because the unions are going to break it.
Nothing beats having a boogie man or scapegoat to blame for all your problems.

Wow. I don't think I've seen a bigger cop out.

I've got a dinner to attend so have at it.

You have convinced yourself that unions are the cause of all the problems in California. There is nothing I can say to assuage your irrational fears.
So how about a little view point from the other side.
I have been either the CEO or a board member of several different heavy industry companies for the last 22 years. Every single craft job at all of these companies have been union.

From a companies side, organized collective bargaining can either be a godsend or pure hell. It is never anything in-between.

A union can bargain for fair wages, safe working conditions and benefits befitting the skill of the worker. The power behind a united workforce can compel a company to pay attention to its workers. A union USUALLY brings forth the best trained and safest workers available. These attributes make union labor attractive to a company.

The problem is that the bargaining by a union rarely stops at what is fair. The union will most likely not consider and not care about the business health of a company. The union will protect and defend an individual worker no matter how bad his performance is or how unsafe his work practices are. Even if he endangers other union workers. Union shops always have a lower moral and a general pessimistic overall attitude (not individually).

I have personally closed and reorganized two pits because of union "interference". In both cases the workforce bargained themselves into a higher compensation level than the industry average yet production lowered almost correspondingly. One site in California will most likely never re-open due to state laws that prevent the company from operating without union workers. Yet the union will not agree to a contract that allows the company to make a profit.

A site in Utah has been operating with an entire union workforce for 18 years. All wage earning workers earn slightly higher than average pay and have excellent benefits. Except for dental ins. Why they keep turning down dental is a mystery. It is also the most productive site I have ever been associated with.
When the economy turned south and demand lessened the union came to the company recommending an across the board cut in pay to keep from having lay offs. Management matched the cut in their own pay. Now that demand is returning the company will be looking to reward its workers for their loyalty.

So, Unions can work. But when the power hungry go looking for more at the cost of someone else, it doesn't work.

I believe that skilled labor should organize. I also believe the organization should police themselves. They should offer something equaling what they take. And they should remember, even though they are members of a union they are also partners with the company they work for.
Did not have time to read all the back and forth on this, but I will comment on this:

BOB CORKER IS A WORTHLESS PIECE OF FU$KING SHIT !

It's a well known fact he is a paid mouthpiece for the Koch Brothers. And the Koch Brothers are all about busting unions.

Now, I truly dislike Republican lawmakers.....but Corker, along with scum like Boehner, Florida governor Rick Scott, and the present Wisconsin governor, are vipers amongst a pit of rattlesnakes. They are devil spawn.

Corker has long been known for his anti-worker stance. Why the good folks of Tennesse keep voting him in is a mystery. They need to learn to quit being sheep and turn off the Faux Box.

Well for not even having time to read all the back and forth, marcisdave certainly came up with a thoughtful meaningful post.

If they vote to unionize and the employer is looking forward to a cooperative relationship, what's not to like? The market will sort it all out in the long run.

Speaking of someone who doesn't give facts but gives us the usual Fox News, right wing conspiracy crap, I believe you think that no liberals are inept or crooked. Wake up.
