Huge Explosion At Texas Fertilizer Plant

Horrible explosion occurred tonight near Waco, TX at a large fertilizer plant. Plant is destroyed, as is a good portion of a small town near the plant.

I'm not going to say anything further until more details are available, but this is a really, really bad situation.
Among the many cool things about Texas is its incredibly pro-business policies that allow a fertilizer plant owner to run the business in a residential neighborhood next to a nursing home. I mean, what could go wrong?

Mix in negligible government oversight and tort reform which prevents plaintiffs from recovering for their damages, and Texas really is fertilizer plant-owner heaven!

Thank you for that touching and sensitive expression of heartfelt compassion, Chilcoot. As the smoke clears and a small Texas town struggles to come to terms with unspeakable tragedy and loss, it’s just so comforting to know that there are those like you who, at the moment, are thinking only about the victims and their families.

A lesser person with an ugly partisan axe to grind might have been unwilling to wait for the outcome of the exhaustive investigation which is sure to come it due time, to identify cause and, yes, assign blame. But, unlike Rahm Emanuel, who never wanted a serious crisis to go to waste, you resisted the urge to trample over the dead and injured to advance a political agenda.

Very classy, indeed, Chilcoot. You're my hero.

Yes, I know, the time of a terrible tragedy is never the time to talk about the force that caused the terrible tragedy.

How come none of your posts ever start with: "My heart goes out to the victims".
Instead all your posts always start with: "Who's fault was it ?"

Here's the biggest tragedy. You NEVER know when to just "shut the F%#k up!"

I'm sure you'd find something wrong with winning the Powerball ?!?
The most important time to be concerned about victims is before they become victims.

How the heck could someone think that locating a large-scale fertilizer plant so close to residences and a nursing home was acceptable? Has no one in Waco, Texas played Sim City?

There are good reasons for smart zoning. Regardless of the cause of the fire that led to last night's explosion, I suspect this accident will be used as an example of awful zoning for some time.
Does Chilcoot know for sure that the plant was built after the houses and buildings were built?

That was actually a situation where Bush shined and helped to heal. To imply it was purely political once again shows us the sad thinking of some on this board.
