I think everyone is hibernating for the winter.

-18 here at 6am. we have at least 8" of new snow here in my part of CT.
East Rutherford, New Jersey site of SuperBowl XLVIII received 13 inches of snow.
As of Wednesday morning [22 January], advance forecasts for Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 2 were calling for 37 degree temperatures with a chance of snow.

"Scientists have found other indications of global cooling. For one thing there has been a noticeable expansion of the great belt of dry, high-altitude polar winds —the so-called circumpolar vortex—that sweep from west to east around the top and bottom of the world." __ Time Magazine
I feel sorry for you people. Out here (San Diego) we're bitching about how hot it is for this time of the year!
It's a warm 72 degrees in most casinos right now.

All us Giants fans who will be watching from home are hoping for snow 2/4/14 LOTS and LOTS of snow...it could be epic!!

DonDiego "clings" to a couple paragraphs in a 40 year-old Time magazine. I think this trumps him:

Oops, . . . that quote was from Time 40 years ago, when the "polar vortex" reaching Southward was indicating global cooling.

Today it's different:
"But not only does the cold spell not disprove climate change, it may well be that global warming could be making the occasional bout of extreme cold weather in the U.S. even more likely. Right now much of the U.S. is in the grip of a polar vortex, which is pretty much what it sounds like: a whirlwind of extremely cold, extremely dense air that forms near the poles. Usually the fast winds in the vortex—which can top 100 mph (161 k/h)—keep that cold air locked up in the Arctic. But when the winds weaken, the vortex can begin to wobble like a drunk on his fourth martini, and the Arctic air can escape and spill southward, bringing Arctic weather with it. In this case, nearly the entire polar vortex has tumbled southward, leading to record-breaking cold."__Time Magazine

DonDiego is not clinging to anything.

He posted the quote from 1974 with the intention of later [now] posting the quote from 2014 to show that scientific opinion changes.

DonDiego recognizes that average global temperature may be rising. He recognizes there may be flaws in the analyses of this phenomenon. He also recognizes scientists are people, and people's motives vary.
DonDiego hasn't personally investigated/researched the global climate; he does not know what the truth is. He is pleased that forkushV does know, as it is pr'bly a comfort to forkushV.

DonDiego counsels against expending significant taxpayer funds on big Government programs to "fight" global warming until it is certain the expenditures are justified.

In 1974 the consensus was "global cooling"; in 2014 the consensus is "global warming".
In scientific endeavors, the truth is not decided by a poll.
