IF and I mean IF you were staying downtown

I like to sleep where I will gamble . I loved the GN . I liked the Fitz. I really , really, really dislike the D. I have stayed at no other Downtown hotels.I wouldn't mind trying the 4Queens.

I also would like to try the Golden Gate but I like the daytime casino but again I dislike the night time casino. I enjoy bar VP at night before I go to bed and go go dancers and loud music are not high on my list .

Have a good time and win big
Most "Strip-Like rooms - Golden Nugget - but it is probably the worst casino (for odds) downtown.
My favourite casinos - Four Queens and Main Street Station. I stay at those 2 casinos because I am comped.
If I wasnèt comped - stay at Nugget - gamble at Four Queens and NSS.

I've stayed at Golden Gate, Golden Nugget, Plaza, and Las Vegas Club.

Would recommend Golden Nugget and Plaza - maybe Golden Gate, definitely not Las Vegas Club.

Plaza's rooms are huge - and a very good value.

With almost every joint downtown you're going to be dealing with a smaller bathroom BTW.

I'm curious why? Most of the reports I've read about the D were positive.

your question is specifically about rooms, correct? The only time I have stayed downtown, it was 2 nights at the Rush Tower at GN after 2 nights at Caesars. I was quite happy with that room.

From the rooms I have seen, I would not recommend moving from the Bellagio to 4 queens or Fremont.

A friend of mine has stayed in a 'mini-suite' at the Plaza. I might consider staying in one of those. Another friend stayed in a corner room at the D a couple of weeks ago, and whle I didn't see the room, I saw pictures. I like the Plaza mini-suite much better.

I have stayed downtown for many years. Being a B Connected member, I have my choice of the Fremont, Main Street or the California. I have tried all 3 and enjoy the Cal the most. Non smoking room is comfortable, bathroom nicer and larger than the Fremont( on par with the Palace Station tower rooms) , quieter than the Main Street and I find the location ideal for moving around the downtown properties. I have stayed @ the Vegas club - the rooms are dated and elevator service is iffy and slow. I stayed recently @ the 4 Queens and received a suite upgrade ( check in timing, I guess)- the room was roomy but somewhat dated. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the suite and I like the casino. Never stayed @ the Nugget- I do find the gaming lousy and the employees do not seem to enjoy their jobs. One day I hope to give the El Cortez a try. As for the Plaza, Binion's,Golden Gate, Gold Spike or the "new" D's are concerned, I just have no desire to stay at any of those properties. No particular reason why - as I have said the Cal works for me and I will be staying there for the majority of my future visits. One other important thing to consider," resort fees". I refuse to stay at any property that charges me a "resort fee". If your room is being comped this is usually not a concern, though some properties are charging this "fee" for comped rooms. Always ask when reserving your room if you will be charged the"resort fee". I hope this info has been helpful.
I've stayed at 3 downtown casinos...the El Cortez (old "new" rooms and the Cabana Suites), the Plaza (newly re-done room), and the Rush Tower at the Golden Nugget. Although I like the El Cortez due to them having my favorite blackjack tables/rules....I would think that the Rush Tower at the Golden Nugget may be the best bet for you (based on "staying at the Bellagio" comment).

The Golden Nugget is conveniently located for downtown activities, it has convenient parking and the RUSH TOWER rooms are very nice (the bed and the pillows were the BEST I have ever had at any hotel, EVER!!!!).

Enjoy your Vegas visit!
The GN Rush tower is our usuall stay. However, the weekend after T-giving we are staying at the Golden Gate in a new "presidential" suite. I will let you know how it goes.
I am what is known as a selectivly cheap person. I will search high and low for a $5 BJ table but will stay in no less than a corner suite in the Rush tower.
I will beg a pit boss for a breakfast buffet comp then go have dinner at LeCirque or Joel Robuchon.
I use the gas buddy app to find the cheapest station then fly to Vegas in my own plane.
I'm pretty sure it's a sickness.
I am picky like you but love a deal when in Vegas. I don't usually fly in in my own plane - too many weather issues between BC and Vegas for the short trips that I make but I do fly my own plane and plan on bringing it down as when I retire - hopefully in 2012. Cessna 172 C-GICE
thanks for all the help. We may have a change of plans. Checked my Harrahs account and we can be comped at all their casino/hotels for those days.
I was worried about going from the B to downtown. Have not stayed downtown for probably 10 years. It was okay, but the bathrooms downtown in the rooms are typically the biggest downer.
