Kids in Vegas

YES I couldnt stand it! If you want to take the kids on vacation go to Disneyworld. I was at the MGM playing a machine a guy sat next to me his wife handed him a 6month old out of the carriage he held her on his lap while playing a machine. His wife and another lady said see you later. WTF I want to have fun playing not listen to a baby cry. UGH!!!!

Last I knew, you could not have a minor "on" the gaming floor. Hotel/Casinos like the Wynn and a few others where you have to basically walk thru the casino to get to your room they allow "kids" to walk on the tile center hall. But, to actually be holding a child or baby in the THE GAMING area is not allowed to my knowledge.
You are so right I couldnt believe it . I was there the first week in August and no one said anything. I thought Are they hurting for money and turned a blind eye to the situation. Machines were empty all over , all I know is Im glad the machine I was on was tight because I was more than happy to venture over to NY.
I had my daughter there in July. I know kids in Vegas are a bad idea but you have to go where the convention is. Some casinos are way stricter than others concerning minors on the gaming floor. Planet Hollywood, Stratosphere, and New York New York were pretty easy going. Treasure Island was terrible. We sat down on a bench outside the restaurant to wait for our table and I had security jumping down my throat within seconds. They threatened me with a 10,000 dollar fine for corrupting a minor. I can't imagine why anyone would try to take a baby to Vegas. We had a legitimate reason for being there and we had plenty of activities to keep us busy but having a baby there would really suck.

It can be done. And it can be done responsibly.
We have taken our child, who is 3 1/2 now, four times. Three times with the in-laws. We get a two bedroom suite and the grand parents are more than happy to stay in the suite and play with our child while the wife and I play in the casino.

Once we stayed with friends at the Bellagio. We had a separate private entrance from the car to the "villa" (it ain't no "villa") so you never saw the casino area.

During the day we go to the natural history museum. It has a kids section complete with almost life-sized moving dinosaurs. We also go to the railroad museum and other non resort, family style attractions.
I won't even take our child to the hotel pools as I feel that should be an adult party area as well.

We do however take her with us for finer dinning. She eats out with us often has always been well behaved. She is quiet, eats well and plugs into her I-pad with headphones before boredom sets in (it's the only time she is allowed to use it).
I love to travel, I visit Vegas once in the summer months and lately have stopped going swimming due to way too many kids. I've also visit Vegas when I know there are not too many kids around. I have visited Disneyland and Disneyworld during the months of Sept and Oct to find out that about 90% of visitors are adults. I do not go on a cruise in the summer months, travel to Hawaii during the summer months. I did wait until my kids were grown to travel and will not babysit grand kids. I told my kids, you wanted to have them, you take care of them. That's just me.
Wow Cowboy,
Your kids stay in only the best suites in LV and they are never on the sidewalks of
LV blvd, eat in the best venues in LV , have you ever walked outside of your hotel,
and seen the 99% of the kids whom are in strollers aimlessely running into the every
day tourist's whom are trying their damnest to avoid crying, screaming, babies !!

Yeah, every once in a while we forget and take a walk from one resort to another. It's a shocker to someone who was raised as strictly as my wife and I were. We would never take our child out there.

We like to stay downtown most trips and I am also shocked at the little kids out on Freemont street experience. AT MIDNIGHT! Our little one would probably really enjoy the light show, and it's billed as "family" entertainment. But there is no way I would take my child out into that freak show.

Myself on the other hand....Eyes wide open, laughing the whole time.

But the point is, it shouldn't be. And it usually isn't. Las Vegas is simply not a place for family holidays. They tried that experiment and it failed - Miserably.

The vast majority of people who bring kids don't have a "millionaire's budget" to entertain and babysit them in villas - instead they drag them along to restaurants, shows, etc. that are usually of little to no interest to the kids. What fun (not!) for both the kids and any other adults at the chosen venue who are not their parents. Bored kids trying to amuse themselves is usually not pleasant for anyone else in the general vicinity.

There are some people who think it's ok to actually try to bring kids right onto the gaming floors. I believe the Gaming Commission has a few issues with that bright idea, and I'm pretty sure the casinos don't want to risk their gaming licences over this nonsense. Every time I've seen that happen, the security guys don't seem to take too long to show up and usher them into another area such as the designated walkways or even right out the door. Failing that, if security has not noticed the children just get the attention of a floorperson and let them know - the kids (and parents) will be off the gaming floor in no time flat.

In my opinion, there are many more appropriate places for families to go on a vacation together so if you can't leave the kids at home with a sitter for your Vegas trip maybe it should wait for another time.

You are right and I agree with you. It just doesn't apply to me and my child.......I'm kidding.

I do see the families dragging kids around every trip. I don't like it either.

My personal rule for bringing my child anywhere public is that no other person will be inconvienenced or bothered. I was raised to be 'seen and not heard' in the presence of adults and expect that of my child as well.

My original point was probably more of an opinion of modern mass parenting than anything else. I just believe that if we can bring our child to Vegas without anyone even realizing that we have, others can too.
