The real shocker is that San Francisco even has a Fox affilate station.

Asiana Airlines intends to sue KTVU to “strongly respond to its racially discriminatory report” that disparaged Asians.

Oh, and incidentally, the National Transportation Safety Board admits "a summer intern, Sum Yung Gai, erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew." Ahh, . . . Government at work.

"Asiana hasn’t determined whether to launch a similar suit against the NTSB," said Asiana lawyer So Su Mi.

Just got done watching the video of the newscast. Unbelievable, that particular news station could have such idiots working there.

The lady anchor pauses for a split second as she is trying to pronounce Ho Lee Fuk, to make sure she pronounces the last name to not sound like "F*ck".

I think at that point, she realized they had been punked. She went ahead and pronounced the 4th name anyways.

Clueless in San Fran....

actually to get a jump on hot topics the news channels start setting up screens prior to release, then all they need to (normally) do is to enter the names prior to showing on the news. In this case, some joker set up the screen with the supposedly "funny" names but then some idiot then thought that these were the real names and they tried to "scoop" the other channels by releasing the names.

I have seen these before, in Hawaii some clown at a TV station had set up the screens with "something something", "another something", etc. and another idiot then put it on the news. The newscasters quickly caught it and explained the pre editing, but I guess that with asian names the SF station didn't know that those weren't the actual names but joke names.

Didn't a newspaper years ago release the paper with the wrong president voted in?

It was the Chicago Tribune, I believe. Became one of Harry Truman's favorite possessions.

I witnessed a chyron that read Joe Schmoe once. Lol. This was set up to plug in the name when they had it.
Captain Janks (of Howard Stern fame) was notorious for getting past censors and on air with various newscasts. He would play it straight for a few beats and then inevitably drop in something like "Babba Boey" or "Howard Stern's balls", etc.

But I'd say these dopes were especially stupid on this occasion.
