live tr, well it started out that way...:-(

Well. That worked. This tablet is doing a Stephen Hawking. Anticipating what you write.

Anyways i always get a bit nervios traveling i have yet to figure out why Today is no exception i triple checked everything and made sure i didn't miss anything. The cat must have known something was amiss when i gave her another cup of food just before. I left for the airport.

I really hate leaving my nice new car at some parking lot but i live in the country and dont have much of a choice. The flight today takes me through the lovely city of Detroit one of the latest in the long line of failing cities. At least Toledo is going to have a real hard time besting that feat.
Wow.... How are you able to pull off such a detailed live report? Where do you find the time?

You are one tricky chef! Thanks for sharing!

Sorry, take a tablet, air travel, wi fi issues, and a short trip resulted in a screwed up TR reporting.

Ok well here goes....

Ballys would be my home for 3 days (well 2 and 1/2). I arrived at 5:30pm Thursday Oct 2. I was offered an upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi for $50 a night and turned it down (idiot me), I then was given the "keys" to room 653 in the Indigo tower. A nice room with a King sized bed. Basic room setup no coffee maker nor fridge but I was quite happy as I was in Vegas.

After unpacking, my stomach reminded me that I had not eaten for quite a while and proceeded to Paris to try out the buffet. I had an assortment of food consisting of roast turkey, yukon gold mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, brussel sprouts, steamed asparagus, mussels and safron rice. The selection of foods was good but I did have 2 complaints, the brussel sprouts were very salty and the mussels had loads of sand. Not exactly worth the $32 I paid and as things turned out was my only meal at Paris.

After dinner I proceeded to see if I could win some cash at the slots. I played a dollar machine and within a few pulls wound up with a win and this nice little piece of paper.

Then I proceeded to try my luck at craps and did exactly what the name of the game implied...crap. Lost $125
Bright and early I a rose on Friday morn and was determined NOT to spend a fortune on breakfast. The game play was to catch a shuttle to the Rio and then another one to the Orleans and get the buffet for under $10. The freaking shuttle must of had the weekend off as I never once saw that damn thing at Ballys. So out I went on the strip in search for a cheap breakfast... Ever wonder what the strip looks like at 7:00 am?

Strange, there were quite a few runners at this time of day.. Why anyone wants to run the strip is beyond me but to each their own. I continued up the strip until I encountered the Peppermill and decided to give it a try. I had the country fried steak and eggs....

Yikes!!!

I spent the rest of the day walking down the strip looking at the many changes that has happened in the 5 years since I was last in Vegas. My dogs were howling and I made a pit stop at the TI and tried my luck at the slots. Of course I broke the rules and chased the points...
After hitting 500 points, I won a nice T-shirt. I do wonder, is it me or have the T-shirt sizes shrunk down a size or 2? I used to fit into a small and now the mediums look about of the size of the small T-shirts I used to wear.

Lunch consisted of a burger at Bobby's Burgers. $10 for a cheese burger, I must be going crazy...Add in the onion rings and a drink, well it is Vegas so $20 for a meal isn't too awful.

Most of the rest of the day was spent visiting the "new" places that have gone up since I was last in Vegas. It definitely has changed a great deal and Sin City is all about change. I enjoyed the new looks and the different vibes, although I do miss Bills. It just does feel quite the same without it around.

Dinner was at Carlos'N Charlie's, The enchiladas with red salsa, refried beans and rice was excellent. Just enough spice to know it but not too much to ruin your taste buds. One note as the table to the right of me ordered the nachos.. OMG! the thing could feed at least 4 with enough left over to feed a kid or 2. Speaking of which, I did see more kids this trip than all of my past trips combined. I won't get into the discussion about if kids should be allowed in casinos, just commenting on the number I saw.
Gambling today was some very small hits and a steady stream of loosing. I was playing slots and mostly the penny ones, except for that lone progressive quarter one at Ballys. I must have thrown at least $125 at it "knowing" it was going to fess up that 2k in quarters, (not the $65k jackpot mind you, but I just knew that 2k was mine).....no way in hell would it let me get it.

Saturday and today was downtown day... First, the most important thing breakfast...

I had passed Guy Fieri's digs and looked at the menu and since I was again traveling north on the strip, decided to go for the gusto and try it for breakfast. I had the Chicken Fried Bacon Biscuits & Gravy...

Note the graphic in the lower right corner....

Here's a better view.

I have never had a heart attack on a plate.....until this one came before me. 1 bisquit sliced in half, each half about 4" in diameter, scrambled eggs, what looked like chicken fried steak, and sausage gravy (or well it looked like sausage gravy). The "chicken fried steak was actually bacon!! and if that was not enough the gravy was bacon flavored.. The utensils were made to appear to look like wrought iron and weighed like them. The food was terrific and once I was through, waddled out like a stuck pig...

More to come....Spago's and Stewart
Well that bacon pic is going to make a lot of folks happy. I have been hearing a lot of good things about Guy Fieri's.
Keep up the reporting.
