I headed over to the 4 Queens and it just felt like I was "home". I stayed there my last trip and had a great time at the craps table. (not to mention way too many beers) I checked out the D and was impressed that they cleaned up the old Fitz so well. Although on the second floor they still had nickle slots that I think survived the change. I dropped a $20 and about 30 minutes later the last of the nickles went their way into the belly of the slot.
I stopped by the Half Priced Tickets booth and purchased a ticket for Rod Stewart. The ticket was in the Rear Orchestra section (a damn good seat for only $80), to add in I received a voucher for 20% off at Spago's.
I putted around dropping another $40 in various slots and didn't win jack. After a few hours, I hit the bus and made my way back to the strip to get ready for some excellent food and a F'ng great concert.
I had some time to blow so I made my way round the forum shops seeing what new stores they had put up. As I made my way through the shops I spotted a rather interesting sight in one of those expensive watch shops a statue of a 50's style girl riding a bomb. Kind of reminded me of Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove.
My reservations were at 5:00pm so I made my way to Spago's to get dinner. I had the Sautéed Atlantic Salmon with Sweet Corn, Cipollini, Arugula, Dijon-Herb Vinaigrette. Yum! $35 including tip. Nice and moist, the salmon was cooked perfectly and the veg was wasn't too much, just enough to make the meal great.
After dinner I had about 30 minutes to kill so I found a quarter slot and tried my luck with suprizing results, 1,000 nice quarters. ($256.00)
The doors opened at 6:30 and I made my way inside to my seat for the concert.

Once the curtains went up at exactly 7:30pm Rod and his band appeared on stage. The male band members were all dressed in grey suits and the ladies in blue dresses. Rod had turned to the crowd and told us to take your pictures and enjoy the show which we all did. He had a tribute to the troops and a PSA from the Wounded Warrior Project. Nothing political about it, just something patriotic. Later he had a tribute to his dad and showed Rod as a teenager at the beginning of his career.
His daughter sang a song by herself and a duet with Rod. That girl of his is damn fine with some washboard abs.
Yes, Rod kicked a few dozen soccer balls all were signed. The encore was to Do you think I'm Sexy. They even went out into the audience while playing a song. Here is the best picture I took near the end of the show.

Rod puts on a great show, I had a blast and you will too. Go see it.
Ever wonder what Mccarran looks like at 3:30 in the morning?
