Man steals $33 million from Australian casino in 'Ocean's Eleven'-esque heist

After reading Treegirls link I made a call to a highstakes poker playing friend of mine. (not friend of ours, friend of mine).
He did not have any first or even second hand info on the story but says it has been talked up at highstakes games since it went public.
He went on to say that it was most likely casino money that was lost since in many highstakes games the casino puts in "shills" or "props" to make a game for a customer. These players are playing with the casino's money.
My friend also stated that this cheat or scam is not new and is easily guarded against by the player protecting the possible view of his cards.
That leads me to wonder if the "shill" or "shills" were not in on the scam purposely exposing their cards to the cameras.

Shills play with the casino's money. Props are employed by the casino but they play with their own money.
