Man wins $66,200 roulette bet at Binion’s in downtown Las Vegas

Nice down payment on a house even after taxes.
He would be on the honor system for his taxes and I don't know if the IRS would somehow note his name? A payoff on an even bet would not require the casino to have to file a W-2G on him.

My God, treegirl in jest makes a statement of: "Gambling income is taxable by 33% right?" and mrmarcus goes H&R Blockhead on us. Is arguing taxable?
What was the purpose of this "jest?" Where did the 33% number come from? How is it relevant to the story? Would the "jest" have been funnier if Robbie's cohort had used 23% instead?

You can't spell the word "judgment," so I'm just stating a fact, not getting off.

Congratulations, must be nice to win on a terrible wager, enjoy your fortune!

thanx fer da korekshun

1. prefect started the thread and commended the guy for being classy.
2. treegirl chimed in and was pretty clearly demeaning and critical of the guy, implying he didn't even know about his own taxes.

Only COMPLETE ASSHOLES, like "Rob Singer," CRITICIZE other people for the games they choose to play and the bets they choose to make. I'll let it rest at that.

"He will use his winnings to put a down payment on a house"

If he looks around in the 'Vegas area that down payment will actually BUY a very very nice house.

It's something people do, by themselves and with each other. Babies do it; adults do it. It isn't any more embarrassing than any other form eroticism. Get over it.
