The experience in Europe has not been good - but I hear, let's follow them!
The "medical" marijuana laws are abused as sham doctors prescribe weed for anything --- even headaches. I have never heard of a doctor facing jail time for prescribing weed indiscriminately.
I am not in favor of big government, but I am concerned that legalizing weed may be worse than keeping it Legal.
Maybe the "right" solution is to allow certain people in certain states to totally legalize weed - let Colorado and Nevada take the lead. If you want to smoke, move there or visit there. If not, live where you want to live.
This is the beauty of the American Constitution - it allows states to have some freedom in such things. I personally do not want to live in a state with Legalized weed, but I don't want to get in the way of those that do. If it were legalized in Illinois, I would seriously consider moving to Indiana. I probably will anyway when I retire as the taxes to fund political pensions in Illinois are ridiculous. I could cut my total tax liability (sales, income, and property) by $10,000 or more per year by moving to Indiana, so why not?
