Mega Millions

Just saw it's up to 400M now.No big surprise there, they made the thing even more impossible to hit when they jacked the odds to 1in 260m vs the old 1in175m (same as power ball).
Cash option is 216M so yea, I've been playing and I'll be in til it hits.Pipe dreams can be fun too

well, if I don't win, I hope it's someone else on this site.

good luck everyone!
I just don't usually play. If someone asks me to go in on a big ticket, I contribute.

I know that if I won, I would first of all think about seeing if I could collect the prize without having to give out my identity. Even before that, I would change my phone number and take other precautions to try and protect myself from the flurry of calls that will be coming from distant family, charities, charlatans, and other sales people. I'd also be scared that the criminal element could try to do something.
I'm in for a whopping two bucks!

Joy

I have two vacation days, that I have to use tomorrow and Friday....I think LF and I are going to make a run to Primm to score a few bucks worth of tickets!

Party time!! Millionaires! WOOO HOOOO

Good luck everyone

As a certified charlatan DonDiego takes offense.

Nonetheless, Roulette Man's anonymity would depend upon the State in which he purchased his Mega Millions ticket. Some States permit it; some States require that the winners' names be published.

The Mega Millions States map links offer the rules in each State. The pertinent information may be found in FAQs or a Winners' Guide or some such classification.
My state requires the winners name to be released but I was looking through some pictures of winners and came across one that read something like:

"Attorney XXXX collecting the winning ticket for XXXX, a limited liability corporation".

I doubt I'll ever have to figure out how they did this, but it does appear to at least be possible. (So if anyone wins and lives in a state that requires their name to be released and forms a corporation to evade it and gets away with it I hope you will remember where you first heard about this trick )
In Calif. you can remain anonymous. Some states pay their dealers different amounts. The differences are incredible.

From the California Lotttery Winners' Handbook :
"According to public disclosure laws, your name is public record. The name and location of the retailer who sold the winning ticket, the date you won, whether your numbers were a Quick PickĀ® or your own numbers and the amount of your winnings are also matters of public record and are subject to disclosure."
What happens when the first lottery winner is injured or killed due to their name being released as a winner? I wonder if California may think it over?
